can't understand why chelsea would sell to arse and not to us..? however, if they'd let him go the lure of CL-football (and money) will always come first to a player. Our 'project' is simply not that attractive to players of this quality

No chance they'll sell to us (they deliberately signed a player for £30 million to avoid us strengthening) and I cannot see why they would then go and sell arguably their best player (even if Mourinho doesn't like/rate him) to a side which are just as big a threat to their position in the top four. Could see Mata going back to Spain, if he leaves at all.

Can't believe Chelsea would sell to that lot - but sure if he has choice he would choose them over us unfortunately.

Wenger might have left it late but could be that there are some good deals still to be done before window shuts.

I think if he had the choice he'd far rather team up again with Bobby Soldado, they worked really well together at Valencia

Mourinho has said he only wants about 22 players in the squad, so some will have to go, just cant see it being Mata, though he is being kept out the team just now.

It's like that scene from bugs life where the fly keeps heading towards the light, I just can't stop myself looking at this thread even in the full knowledge that ill get Zapped :) or at least that there isn't a hope that this could happen.

SSN say that Chelsea are in advanced talks with Porto for Christian Atsu. I was sure that JM not fancying Mata was rubbish but if that's true, who knows.

I think that working with AVB and Soldado again could be attractive. It's not like we finished too far behind Chelsea recently so it's possibly 1 season without CL...

Now to convince Chelsea. Ha.

They do actually have a midfielder addiction, don't they? Somebody needs to stage an intervention!

I really don't get it, how many do they need? Someone needs to sit Mourinho down and give him a slap

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas rules out signing Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata. Spurs did enquire about the possibility of signing Mata, but Villas-Boas concedes there is no chance that the Blues will offload one of their players to a rival club.
"First, Chelsea wouldn't sell to Tottenham in any way or form, as they think that we are title contenders," he said. "Mata is a great, great player - player of the season last season - very, very important player for Chelsea.
"They're just not going to strengthen another team that, in their opinion, are rivals for the title."

It just show what an hypocrite Jose is. He's stated some that he would have no problems selling players to rivals when he commented on Rooney. As if he had managed ManU he would have let Chelski have him. Oh yeah! Can't believe a word that crook says in the press.
