Whilst Berbs is grabbing all the headlines about a possible move away from the Lane in the summer, just read something about Barcelona being interested in Ramos as Rijkaards replacement.
“No, I never spoke to them,” he said from Madrid. “In this football world there are always rumours.
“I am at Tottenham, under a long term contract and I am delighted.”
Good to hear him say that when questioned about it,but cant help but think if we have a great season next year, were going to have real problems hanging onto Juande...

I was somewhat concern at the possibilty of Chelsea doing a similar trick to which they pulled with Arneson. Although I do feel Ramos will be here next year. I think keeping him and Berbatov are key to our progression. (obvious statement I know)

I don't think Ramos will go anywhere in all honesty

He's just starting to get a taste for the EPL and I can't see him leaving so soon. I also have a good feeling about Berba. If Juande brings in some quality signings in the summer then I think he will stay :)

I think his down to earth manners make him more likely to stay than a flamboyant guy like Mourhino.

what will be will be, no sense getting paranoid about every decent player/manager/member of staff leaving. It's a good thing we ain't a championship club, most people on here would panic themselves to death.

Me thinks they have bought in Gus not only for the present, but with one eye on the future, wit him being an eventual no1 for us. he certainly looks and sounds the part. So there is a safety net there for the future if (when) Juande goes

I was thinking he would achieve something more than the League Cup with us before moving on to one of the big European clubs .

Ramos must have overall control over who is signed . If the DOF makes expensive signings of his own volition then the manager is under pressure to play them .

Even then it's going to take some really fancy footwork to take us to the next level with the money available .

Ramos does have a history of jumping ship, but I don't think its likely to happen in this case if only for the reason that he doesn't have enough experience at the highest level to be able to manage the like sof Barca.

Ramos is a strong enough character to refuse to play DoF signings. He hardly played Mosquera @ Sevilla because he'd wanted a Spanish CB like Jarque.

But I agree that Ramos must have final say on all first team signings, for the reasons I outlined on page 2 (11:48 post) here:

Commoli's DoF role should essentially be that of a Chief Scout/Head of Development.

didnt ramos say that his dream was to manage in england because he felt it was the most challenging and said that our new training complex would match that of real madrid.. you cant help but to listen to paper talk but imo if ramos gets it right with the right backing there is not a better football club to manage...

Guys, I think Juande's ours for a couple more seasons at least. The fact that he hadn't stuck around for much more than a season anywhere was probably my main reason for being a bit iffy about him back in August, but, thinking about it, if he were to jump ship it would have an prospective future employer thinking: 'When's he going to do it to us?'

Two sides to everything, and at Sevilla crazed megalomaniac Jose Maria 'I am the second most important man in Seville after the Pope' del Nido was, apparently, in the habit of claiming the club's success was down to him, not Ramos. I can see why that sort of shit would piss Juande off, and Levy's far too smart to make the same mistake. In fact, he seems to be falling over backwards to give Juande everything his heart could desire, from a gobsmacking salary (reputedly the largest in club football) to a degree of control over signing that poor old Jol can only have dreamed of.

Rest easy, kiddywinks.

Funny thing about Ramos is that he is all about taking clubs to the next level and has been successful at it at the majority of clubs including the last 3 clubs in spain. We will be looking at a champions league spot in the next 2 years.... after that if there is no movement on the stadium and training ground developments ( visible signs of ambition) your guess is as good as mine

In the coming months I'm sure that every manager currently living, and some not, is going to be linked with the Barca job.

We are BIG. What are you on? What are you? We are the reachest club of all that haven't played in CL and richer than many that have played in it. You support SPURS but you have no idea how big this club is. Small teams don't set records and milestones. THFC does.

If he had a history of jumping ship what would stop him leaving us for a "bigger" one?

I also disagree that the level of his experience would hamper him. Considering his success at Sevilla etc, he would be one of the front runners for a job at any of the top Spanish clubs if he was available.
