Only thing I have against him as a CH, is he is only 5ft 10 plus

He wins almost 90% of his aerial duels tho IIRC.

Plus, Dier is 6'3 and gets beat in the air by players like Cavaleiro who are around or less than the height of Kounde :ROFLMAO:

That sounds really short and it’s a more than reasonable concern. But when I’ve watched him play I’ve never thought “wow he’s tiny” and felt he was outmatched physically. I honestly think a strong vertical leap is more important than height as well. Look at how Lucas springs over defenders who may be 5-10 inches taller than him but because his vertical leap is excellent as is his timing with it he flies over guys who are 6”2-6”3 because their feet are stuck to the ground. Also you’ve had guys like Cannavaro, Puyol, Cordoba etc. have incredible careers at centre half despite a lack of height. Give me a good, technical, aggressive, clever short arse over a giant plodder any day of the week!

Great shout. Cordoba was a monster and a tough competitor.

Sissoko is what 6'2" and can't win a header in the box to save his life.

Like I said, my source was adamant he wasn't going to Spurs. For a start the price is more like £60m. Doesn't mean they'll get it, of course.

I don’t think he’s very realistic, sadly, as I can see one of the mega clubs sweeping in, just like Ruben Dias and City. I can see Real Madrid going for him if they sell Varane, after releasing Ramos.

But: He’s probably my dream centre back signing. So much more than just a defender, simply brilliant going forward and has been acting more or less as a playmaker from his centre back position. Brilliant on the ball. And he’s extremely athletic and isn’t poor in the air at all. Granted, he might struggle with the likes of Chris Wood, but that doesn’t make him poor in the air. I’d say a bit like Puyol or Cannavaro (both the same height) who was also quite good in the air, despite their height.

If he was 6’ no one would bat an eye. 5cm does not determine if you’re a good player. Positioning, pace, ball control and passing are far more important than those few centimetres - and Kounde is as good at all of those as any CB in world football.

If we can get him for under €50mil it would be an absurd bargain. Get him signed up Paratici!

I don't see the height as such a big deal. You are just as likely to come up against an Aguero type than a Crouch now and the slightly smaller player might have the advantage there.

You can't have a team of midgets though.

Shouldn’t matter if he’s in a 3 with a couple of bigger guys, plus all reports on him seem to suggest his aerial ability is one of his strengths.

Depends if his other attributes can compensate. Puyol was fine.

I certainly dont think you want 3 giant CB's in a back 3.

Mascherano as well.
