That’s according to ABC Sevilla, who say the Spanish side could force the Blues to look at cheaper alternatives.

That’s because the La Liga club are demanding a top price for their man and, while being open to including players in the deal, want something that comes close to his release clause.

Chelsea haven’t gone that high up to now, and ABC report they may end up looking elsewhere instead.

According to the newspaper, while Koundé is ‘one of the priorities’ for Chelsea, the demands of the Nervion club means Roman Abramovich will ‘reconsider other cheaper options’ instead.

That’s because the Blues main priority is to sign a new striker, with a big-money move for Romelu Lukaku seemingly being worked on.

Koundé, for his part, is ‘determined’ to leave and Chelsea meet all the financial expectations of the defender as well as providing him with ‘ambitious targets’.

Sevilla, though, stand in the way, and unless they lower their demands, it seems Chelsea will be going elsewhere as they focus on their other issues.

Weve already shelled out on Gil, Loan fee for Gollini (only 2m but still) and then the fee for Kounde (admitedly Sanchez would ofset perhaps close to half) and maybe even Tomiyasu

We agreed a deal with Sevilla, but player was holding out for CL. We have a player they want, so we hold the cards if Kounde decides to go for it.

I meant a deal with the player. Kounde prefers Chelsea so if he get's to the stage where he would agree to join us I have no doubt he would make Chelsea aware of this at which point I'm pretty confident they would meet the asking price. Right now Chelsea can afford to haggle as he's not at that stage yet.

I think the only way this deal is even remotely viable without the sale of Kane, is because of the Sanchez factor.

No way are we paying 70 million euros, or whatever his buyout clause is, but considering we're desperate to offload Sanchez and Sevilla are keen, this could be seen as a fantastic opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone.

There's also the element that, much like with the Lo Celso transfer, Sevilla could prefer to do a 'trade deal' to lessen the share of the sell on fee they have to pay. This makes a deal involving Sanchez (or in Chelsea's case, Zouma) far more attractive to them, while also giving us a little extra leeway on price. Luckily for us, Zouma doesn't want to go to Spain, and Chelsea seem to be allocating all of their money towards the Lukaku deal, which gives us a clear run at it, providing we can convince Kounde to come.

We'd still need to find £30 million or so from somewhere, though. Maybe that's why players like Davies are suddenly being mooted as potential outgoings?

Barca’s issue is that they are miles above La Liga’s salary cap. Having more money does nothing to solve that. They have to shed vast amounts of salary before they can even register the players they have already “signed.”

Don't think that will affect Kounde's valuation. Would mean they are even more likely to reject Chelsea's bids, but seeing as they want Sanchez, could help us.
