Heard today that we were very interested in him. But since not playing in Champions League no more and now Monchngladbach in pole position

Wouldn't be surprised if he went overseas. I seem to recall there being some paper talk (when he was linked to Bayern) about there being some funny rule that if he stays in England it'll be a figure decided by the tribunal but if it's overseas there is a standard value attached to academy players of 80k per year at the club. Which in effect makes him cheaper for a foreign buyer... can anyone confirm that? Sounds loopy to me, so you're probably more likely to shoot it down than confirm it.

Interesting. Not sure he would have ever been a priority for us to be honest. A useful squad player on the cheap but if he is only interested in Champions League football then I'm not so fussed we won't be signing him.

If we retain our better players he wouldn't make the team we put out in CL matches.

In fact I would say he would get considerably more game time now we are in the Europa.

Agree with this!
Besides in Hoillett - don't we have the perfect RW cover for Lennon.
Thats Carling Cup and perhaps Europa League taken care of.

Here's my obligatory, yearly reminder that Cristian Rodriguez is available (y)

Joined Atletico Madrid about a week ago

Edit: I see you posted that before he'd signed there. I really am a 'tard.

did he ever officially join Borussia Monchengladbach? haven't seen anything about it since that daily mail article saying he was "set to join."

From June 10th:

Blackburn contract rebel Junior Hoilett is wanted by Turkish giants Galatasaray - as his dream move to Germany hits snags.
Hoilett plans to quit relegated Rovers at the end of his deal and has been in talks with Bundesliga outfits, headed by Borussia Munchengladbach.
However the pay is not as big as his camp expected and now Gala have joined the hunt - and want the tricky Canadian to join them in a bargain move.
Rovers boss Steve Kean still dreams of keeping Hoilett, but Gala could put a package to him that makes the attacking star head to eastern Europe.
It would be a massive blow to Rovers if Hoilett goes abroad as his fee will be small, based on the number of years he has spent 'training' with them.
Hoilett has been attached to Rovers since he was a kid but spent several years out on loan - and that will affect the final compensation figure they receive.

Hoilett's move to Galatasary has stalled until the Galatasary Community Forum's Junior Hoilett thread reaches 100 pages.

Maybe he's stalled with Gladbach because Lucien Favre is in talks with Levy to be the next Spurs manager?....

And another thread to shortly be locked.

Seems Hoilett has joined QPR. Quite unbelievable really, I guess this is another transfer that can be chalked down to money over ambition.

Dafuq. Either it's the money, or that he knows that he will most likely be an important player for QPR.

Or the ambition to play first team football in the Premier League might have played a role...
