Before the backlash begins, I think that kaboul could do a good job as a midfielder. he is very young and i believe that he has played as a defensive midfielder for his previous club. I think he can go one better, he's very strong and athletic, he can pass the ball and has an eye for the unexpected, he has a very good shot on him (we have very few players who actually score from outside the box).
If i'm not mistaken i do believe that Baptista was a defender turned into an attacker by either Ramos or Caparros (the previous Seville manager) and done extremely well as he could bulldoze his way past defenders.
Kaboul could do exactly the same, he can be nurtured by Poyet to time his runs!!
On another point, although i was disappointed with the result, I can't wait until next season when we have a full pre-season with Ramos and the squad.
