Hello mates
as i just wanted to tell the fact for some of these people that Robbie Keane made smilar starts with Tottenham in some years and always started his best days in the season starting from december. As they don't follow Spurs too much, they could think i would defend him because he is ex-Spurs, but as spurs fan we all know that he wasn't that superb week in week out and they quickly blaming Benitez or him as he isn't good enough for Liverpool etc.. , so i made statistics and would love to tell you it:
my thoughts about his form started since december ( last part of first first half of the season ) , so my statistics will be: ( his score until the end of Nov. , in dec., 1st half of season, 2nd half of the season ) because i can't just start with dec. and include it with the season 2nd half season, here are statistics and some notes:-
1st season 2002-2003:
- first goal: in 6-10 vs Blackburn.
- until 30 november: scored only 4 goals. ( 9-10-11 as signed later in August )
- only in december: scored 2 goals
- total 1st half: 6 goals
- total 2nd half: 7 goals ( hatrick v Everton in jan. )
- note: Tottenham were very poor in 2nd half after selling Robrov/Ferdinand without replacement, Doherty played as striker.
2nd season 2003-2004:
- first goal: in 23-9 vs Cardiff in League cup, first league goal in 5-10 vs Everton
- until 30 november: scored only 3 goals.
- only in december: scored 3 goals
- total 1st half: 6 goals
- total 2nd half: 10 goals
- note: Tottenham were very poor in 2nd half after selling Robrov/Ferdinand without replacement, Doherty played as striker.
3rd season 2004-2005:
- first goal: in 22-9 vs Oldham in League cup, first league goal in 5-23 vs Bolton
- until 30 november: scored only 5 goals.
- only in december: scored 3 goals
- total 1st half: 8 goals
- total 2nd half: 9 goals
4th season 2005-2006:
- first goal: in 17-9 vs Aston Villa
- until 30 november: scored only 3 goals.
- only in december: scored 3 goals
- total 1st half: 6 goals
- total 2nd half: 10 goals
5th season 2006-2007:
- first goal: in 25-10 vs MK dons in League cup, first league goal in 12-11 va Reading
- until 30 november: scored only 4 goals.
- only in december: scored only 1 goal
- total 1st half: 5 goals
- total 2nd half: 17 goals
- note: injuried in dec. vs Middlesbrough after he scored Spurs win, out for around 6 weeks and stated that on official site, it was the worst christmas for him.
6th season 2007-2008:
- first goal: in 20-9 against team from Cyprus in UEFA cup, first league goal in 23-9 va Bolton
- until 30 november: scored only 10 goals.
- only in december: scored only 4 goal
- total 1st half: 14 goals
- total 2nd half: 9 goals
- note: clear moregames in 1st half of the season, poorer teams, lack of desire to win games in 2nd part of the season after League cup win, UEFA cup quick knock.
Keane summary:
goals from december (all goals in the season)
1st season: 9 goals from (13)
2nd season: 13 goals from (16)
3rd season: 11 goals from (17)
4th season: 13 goals from (16)
5th season: 18 goals from (22)
6th season: 13 goals from (23)
It isn't good way to defend him, but i told all people it was normal start by Keane, and some Liverpool fans tell me they are really more optimstic about him now to start his form during the important part of the season if he stays fit.
then Arsenal fan claimed that Robbie Keane don't worth £20m, he is just good striker at his best, never class and never will be, don't know about the 'class word' to be honest, but it was strong statement by Arsenal fan.
CLASS ? then i turned back to their claim about Adebayor is Class. interesting one .. as any footballer won't deny that Adebyaor playered with a lot of consisent performer than keane, upfront very highly rated fullbacks in Sagna & Clichy, very good DM in Flamini, and class creative players in Fabregas & Hleb. so who that class one Adebayor score 24 goals in the same time Robbie Keane score 23 goals for a team finished 11th with just Berbatov as right hand man .. and played as second striker some games, not smilar situation for their target man.
PRICE ? for Liverpool, it might be right as they don't have enoguh resources, but for Tottenham no, but in modern football we know the prices in EPL, but i turned back to their legend Dennis Bergkamp, who rated as Class by them, i really rate his talanted but both Keane & Bergkamp aren't target men, and Bergkamp signed for £7m in 1995, and i asked him to compare the prices in 80s, 90s, start of 2000 and the second part of 2002 by particular as more investment in EPL transfers.
so it would be nice to compare
* Keane (28 year old) for £19m in 2008 .. at his best days:
* Bergkamp (26 year old) for £7m in 1995 ( who struggled in last 2 seasons with inter accodring to wiki ):
First part: Keane Statistics
for non-Spurs fans, it could be easily to see Robbie Keane criticized for his poor start with Liverpool and a lot of questions about his price, yes he was really Tottenham man and not surprised by our asking price, all praise to Daniel Levy to manage that for 28 year old striker.

they could easily his average score was poor due to he played more and until the end of his career, right, without last three seasons ( he played six years with Arsenal like Keane with Tottenham ) ..
Both in SIX years
Bergkamp: 83 goals in 222 aprearances (00.37%)
Keane: 107 in 253 appearances (42.29%)
for the record, Robbie Keane also foced a huge competition and Rotation with Kanoute & Defoe. Let alone the lack of class creative player during the years.
so, if Keane isn't worth of £19m in 2008 ? Is Bergkamp really worth £7m in 1995 ?
and sorry if there are errors in language, as always ;P
best regards.
