I can't see that Fletcher would have made any difference to Barcelona's ball retention.

He would have made a very big difference. United started brightly, but were eventually undone by relentless pressure on their back four, with nobody able to put the boot in. Fletcher is a workhorse amonst other things. He would have made a huge difference.

Can't see it at all, Barca's 1 touch play and passing far too good for United with or without Fletcher.

He also looks bloody awful for Scotland.

it's not an argument, it's an opinion.

Like it's also my opinion that he would have made absolutely no difference in the CL final at all, one team was simply far too good for the other.

I disagree. You take a player who was absolutely awesome in both legs against arsenal out of the side and it's going to make an impact, especially as his main job and what he's best at is stopping the other team playing.

not saying they would've beaten barca, but they would've stood a better chance and would've made it more difficult than the woeful anderson could.

Playing Arsenal and Barca are two completely different things as Utd found out. They dominated Arsenal but should have been annihalted by a vastly superior Barca side who showed what ball retention, pass and move football at pace is all about.

Utd Could have added Fletcher to the 11 that played and Barca would probably still have beaten them.

Once again mixed reviews on JJ after the Bolton game. I thought he done good and might even stretch it to say he had a better game than Palacios. He did seem to cover alot of ground (from the highlights I saw as my stream was crap)
I still think we need to get a good CM in Jan as we do need someone to come on when either Palacios or JJ is having a day off and I do think yesterday was Palacios's day off, I really thought he was going to get sent off at some point.
The title of this thread is "keep it up JJ" and I think he has kept it up so far

jenas has done alright since he's come back into the team, but palacios needs to start playing it simple he gives possession away far too easily and cheaply.

He has been our most consistent player since coming back from injury.
Well done JJ!

You mean like kranjcar! He had a great game yesterday - I think when Modders is back, having kranjcar and JJ in competition for a place will bring out the best in both - Unfortunately neither of them could "replace Palacios" - I think harry should say, look, keep it simple, break up play, get stuck in, and play short passes off to your other MF players, like kranjcar, Modric, jenas to play the 30 yard balls!

No I meant someone who can come on and do the dirty stuff like Palacios. Break up play and get in the opponents faces. Niko is competition for JJ or cover for Modric.

Going by what some have said on here Sandro or Sissoko should fit the bill

the 1 in 10 is not a myth! anyway it's been 1 in 20 over the last few years!!

Good luck to him I hope it continues

I think 1 in 10 is a myth, yes he has bad games, average games and good games....I would say it's more like out of 10 games - 3 are good - 3 are bad and 4 are average.

He is also scrutinised a hell of a lot more than others by Spurs fans.

he has been very good so far. One of the big differences I have noticed from last season is his confidence and his ability to always look for and generally execute well decent forward passes

I'm late on this one. Reading much of the posts it seems general feeling is JJ has been very good since his return.
I've always supported JJ in various battles, whether against Hudd or DZ.
Thing for me is where was he (Hud too) in our recent big games?? In both the Utd and Chelsea game, he showed little leadership, little movement, little creation. General lack of purposeful play for me, not good enough. Not saying we had a right to win those games, obviously tough games, but our midfield offering was poor.

Would like to see Kranjcar in the middle with Wilson.

To be honest in both those games we are absolutely bossed in the midfield, JJ came on at half-time against the Mancs and did a great job, almost scoring a wonder goal and setting up Keano. Against Chelsea the midfield was all over the place due to the odd formation we used, it was a 4-1-2-2-1, against Chelsea's diamond formation we were always going to struggle, but again he played rather well against them. He was the best out of the 3 (Hudd, Pal)
