Everton have bid 5m £ for Keisuke Honda from Cska, according to Sky Italy. Honda is also Milan target and was also contacted by Tottenham.

I think Sky Italias reputation has gone down the drain really fast. They're really going for a scattergun approach seeing what sticks and what not.

I would certainly not shed any tears if this turns out to be true however.

wouldnt want him at expense of Siggurdson, Holtby and Carrolls development. After Paulinho we have enough CM. we need some real trickery, Vision and skill to balance out the Bale threat as well a Platoon of strikers

Reckon he's an overall better option than Mkhitaryan and is very similar IMO. Should be considered very seriously. Another player could be brought in with the difference of the touted prices.

I think Honda is quality, as a creative midfielder i think he should be at the top of our list.

I think he is too similar to Holtby and not accustomed to the left. I also think Holtby will surpass him in a few years given enough playing time. A good player but one we shouldn't be after just because he available for cheep/free

He's arms and legs before Holtby in every aspect. He could very well slot in our 3-man midfield ahead of Dembele in a lot of games and that's not even as a simple rotation option.

I find myself agreeing with both of these. Honda will be free in Jan, or fairly cheap now. He's good enough to walk into our first team and would be the creative playmaker that we need. However, I do think Holtby has the potential to be just as good (perhaps better if well developed) and all he needs is a decent Sandro-esque run in the team to actually cement a place. It's a toughie!

I'd worry about Holtby's development being stunted, to be honest. I've stated previously how much I rate Honda, but at what point do you determine that going through the growing pains of Holtby is worth it because in a year or two he could be a really good midfielder as opposed to bringing in Honda who could realistically improve the squad now, but ultimately hurt Holtby in the long run.

I guess the positive of a move like this could be we could more easily send Carroll out on loan. With Huddlestone off, Holtby/Carroll become our in-house playmakers from midfield. Should we bring in Honda, we could send Carroll out to get more consistent match minutes.

Carroll on loan is a good choice if Honda does come in, I really do think he needs 1st team experience at a smaller Prem club now to really push his development forward. With Parker leaving too we'd end up with 5 centre mids which should suffice for the amount of games we're playing and taking into consideration the inevitable injuries.

Defensive: Sandro/Paulinho
Box-to-box: Dembel/Paulinho
Attacking/creative: Holtby/Honda

That looks like a very tasty midfield with all the right ingredients, and I'm sure they'd all get plenty of games.

My concern is Sigurdsson. Siggy has been used as a wide left option due to the lack of a proper left winger (now that Bale is all free roamy), and he's done a good job considering it's not a natural position for him. If we go 4-3-3 though is he going to considered as an option for the left wide-forward position? I'd like to think he can play there but I don't know if it'll work. I don't think he's really a centre mid either, every time I've seen him there he's looked a bit out of his depth.

I could believe this one, probably because I want to believe, seeing as it looks like good business viz the Japan market. Oh would be good for the team too, but we know where Levy's heart lies...

Honda is an intelligent player, and we seem to be aiming for intelligent players who can understand and implement AVBs tactics (Mkhitaryan is also a very intelligent player, and probably even better, but infinitely more expensive)

If we sign him his shirt sales will pay for a 3rd of the stadium lol

Not only that... Commercial exposure in Japan will be enormous. Probably more live games... Man U vs Spurs will be top draw. Lol

It's entertainment...:)
Anyway he is good to begin with.... And raise our profile.

In sports store in Asia, there is hardly any spurs jersey for sale. That is how pathetic it is.

He doesn't play where Carroll plays. And he's an absolute shitload better than Sigurdsson and a good deal better than Holtby.
