Scutch just posted....

It'll be interesting to see if this happens. The transfer requests seem to be a bit hit and miss. Boro and West Ham seemed to rejest requests from Downing and Bellamy, but Bellamy soon got his move in the end. Can Sunderland risk an unhappy striker though? If we cant get Adriano then i'd like to see this one come off. And i dont think we'll get Adriano.

Yea we will never get Adriano, I am certain he would not come to us even on a loan (ego would prevent it, seeing us as below his standard imo)

Jones would be better as Adriano will probably just get fat & pissed in London. He'll probably end up with Ronnie Biggs groin or something just like Mido.

I'm glad Harry has hit back at that twat of a Sunderland manager.
Interesting that he's saying Bent's agent has had contact with Sunderland and Bent knows Sunderland want him.;
Sorry I can't post the link due to PC problems but it's allover newsnow.

But Redknapp has responded to Sbragia's accusations by implying that Sunderland are showing an interest in Bent.

"Is someone upsetting Darren Bent? He came to see me and says, 'I hear Sunderland want me'," Redknapp said. "I said 'I don't know, I haven't spoken to anyone at Sunderland'.
Upset

"He said 'well my agent says they want me'. So someone is talking to someone. I could say the same thing, that Sunderland are upsetting Darren Bent."

I am disgusted with the way Redknapp has been treating Bent. He should tell him to shove Sunderland up his arse and sit tight and wait for a better team.

Redknapp is stupid to get rid of Bent we will need him for the Uefa cup.

But say for example Bent really did take exception to Harry's comments about his miss and has responded in a negative way in training (lack of effort/sulking etc) this would make his postion very shakey.

If I was the manager and I had a player who acted like that instead of rolling up his sleaves and working twice as hard to put things right I would want to ship him out too.

I have no time for players who are so mentally weak, what with the money they are on and the talent they pocess if they can't deal with an off the cuff remark about a miss were they totally deserved to be told how poor it was.

Ok we don't know for sure if Bent really did act this way, but it does tie in to rumours that Harry is now trying to sell him (and that the press were constantly reporting that Bent was upset with what was said)

Time will tell, and to be frank I'm not really bothered. If he stays I hope he comes good and scores alot of goals, although with both Pav and Defoe now in the squad I feel we would have more versaility replacing him with Jones as he could compliment the other two strikers where as Bent if somewhat a striker of the same mould and would struggle to form partnerships with either I imagion.

So what ever Harry thinks is best for the team in the long run I will put my faith in, as for now I feel it is futile to be second guessing the manager already. We as fans need to sit down and see how events unfold before we judge the new manager (atleast give him the time a manager would need to stamp their own seal on the team) The last thing we need is more unrest and upheaval.

I think at this time and for the rest of the season our support needs to be total and unwavering, postivity and real energy from the crowd at every game, we need a 12th man and we need our positivity and support to translate itself in to confidence and good form from the players on the pitch.

I would love to see no more bitching and moaning and doom and gloom mungering from our fans (impossible I know, even I feel like kicking the cat everytime we lose so staying postive can be foolhearty) but it would be nice to see us all offering nothing but pure support for a change (who knows it actually might have an effect and certainly couldn't do any harm)

Totally disagree. Defoe and Bent are not "very similar" Defoe is much more involved in open play and is better at creating his own chances. Bent is a natural finisher and works best in a 4-5-1/4-3-3.

Keane can't play with Defoe.

Jones is so much more than goals. He scored only 7 last season for Sunderland but was still voted the fans player of the year.

Him and Defoe would be brilliant together and my first choice strikers, with Pav and Bent/Campbell on the bench.

They're similar in that they're both out-and-out goalscorers who don't offer a great deal else—they have different strengths and weaknesses, sure, but they're the same type. Defoe doesn't so much create his own chances as take a pop whenever there's a sniff of a chance (and sometimes when there isn't )

Keane and Defoe could work if the ball were played more to their feet. The one occasion I can actually recall this happening is when we played Charlton at the Lane in 2005-2006. However, I think this is pretty theoretical.

Jones is a bit crude, but he's fast, powerful, and excellent in the air. I can see him working well with any of our current strikers.

Tottenham hope Kenwyne Jones will reject a new contract with Sunderland to move to White Hart Lane after making a £15m take-it-or-leave-it offer for the striker. (London Evening Standard website 1020 GMT)

Nail on head. Id understand the outcry if it was a kid playing U-10's but he is paid over 30k a week to do his job, namely score goals.

If he doesnt do that satisfactorily surely a bit of light criticism is fair game? Players are like children now, spoiled children. Surely the reaction should be "right, Ill fvcking show him, let me play and show you what I can do" rather than "oh, woe is me, Im so down, whatever will I do". Testicles. Grow a pair.
