Kevin Bond - Auditioning for the job?

Last nights performance at Anfield was possibly the finest defensive display since the Palacios/Sandro masterclass at the San Siro.

Although 'arry probably picked the team and no doubt was on the blower issuing instructions throughout the game, I reckon Kevin Bond has done himself no harm if the worst case scenario were to happen today and the Jury find Redknapp guilty and the Judge subsequently jailing him.

No doubt Levy will have seen that there will be no need to panic and that Bond and Jordan would be a safe pair of hands until at least the end of the season.

Pourquoi?

Being a manager is about a lot more than leading the team for one game with the gaffer on the phone..

If he was indeed making the calls (i.e. calling the shots and not just the boss) I'd say some decent use of subs but disappointed we didn't try to push them more and go for the three points. Decent defensively, yes, but against one of the poorer attacking teams in upper half of the league. We normally come out guns firing after Harry's half time talk we certainly didn't yesterday.

All in all we shouldn't be promoting assistants to the post unless they're someone special and honestly Bond properly ain't. And for what it's worth we've still got Harry.

Bond and Jordan to the end of the season, yes no problem - but from there Spurs need a proven manager.
I wouldn't mind Hiddink as his replacement.

We were playing Liverpool, the 7th best team in the PL. The reason why we defended so well, is because Bond set us to play too deep, no support to Adebayor and our ball retention was not to the normal high standards.

This game was there for the taking with a bit more ambition. Liverpool are very, very average.

We gained an important point in a difficult midweek fixture at a freezing Anfield .

Friedl should take a large chunk of the credit for this .

That said I don't like it when we go one upfront and would have preferred to see us go for it with two upfront .

Would have been interesting to see what we would have done if Liverpool had taken the lead .

With Defoe and VDV missing and Pav gone, the only option was really one up front, as Ade and Saha are too similar.

Are you joking???

Our most disjointed performance of the season and you think he did well!

We had no cohesion in midfield or upfront

If you want to praise anyone for getting us a draw it should be Scott Parker

Bond just showed up his lack of insight into how we play

we did play well defensively, but no where near enough ambition in our play tonight, primarly because Harry was not there, we looked like we played for the point.

We parked the bus last night but it was essential that we did not lose that game, we didn't, mission accomplished

Fine defence display against what?
The attacking force that is LFC (Andy Carroll, Dirk Kuyt, Jay Spearing, Charlie Adam et al)

Our approach last night was embarassing, I don't even mind us parking the bus, but there came a clear point last night when it was obvious that Liverpool did not have much to trouble us, but did we try to change our approach? NO.

That was the performance of a team clinging to fourth and looking at teams beihind, not one going for the title and aiming for those above.

Bond's negativity was clear before the match.

We had half our regulars out and no Harry last night and were playing against a team that wanted to injure as many of our players as possible, a rival for CL has not gained any ground on us, I would have liked a prettier performance but am satisfied with a point

Happy with the result considering the squad... if Harry gets 3 months etc I see them running things till he's back... I'm sure Levy said when we took Harry on that anything he did before didn't effect his role there...

Amazing the different views on last nights games, I cant see how anyone can think we played well, the result was not so bad but to think that we played well is beyond me.
Still all about opinions and just because my opinion is mine does not make it right.

We played like crap last night. No rythm, no tempo. We showed focus, concentration and some intestinal fortitude though. We're bound to have off days and we've had remarkably few this season. Considering the circs surrounding last night's game - injuries, court date for the boss, a decent point. But for Bale being more comfortable with his right peg, we'd have taken all 3.

Missed opportunity against a very average team. I like others question our ambition, when we set up to play so deep last night. When you have the attacking talents of Bale, Modric, Kranjcar and Adebayor, you need to use them , not have them scrapping for every ball.

I pretty much agree, but I don't think Bond shoulders all the blame. We we abject against Wigan and Watford and Redknapp was at those games.

But to call that game a success is ridiculous. Made to look ordinary and we didn't defend well as a team, our defenders defended well and Liverpool were unimaginative.

Liverpool are just Stoke/Wolves with money, bunch of cheats, divers and thugs, we have to adjust our game according to the opposition and we did
