As expected, we're going to take something of a big loss on him if we even find a club that wants to acquire him this summer. New managers have to make some quick decisions on retaining or selling players, and can't give every player a year to show what they can do. Some players ensure that such decisions can be made very quickly.

BOATENG JOINS POMPEY

Kevin-Prince Boateng has joined Pompey from Tottenham in a three-year deal.

Blues boss Paul Hart is delighted to bring the talented 22-year-old midfielder to the south coast.

He said: “Kevin’s a good player and I’m very thrilled that we’ve managed to get him here.

“He’s a young player who wants to prove something. Like all the players we’ve brought in, he’s got something to prove.

“He’s got tremendous ability and hopefully we can provide the environment to channel that.”

Boateng, who has dual German-Ghanaian nationality, began his career with Hertha BSC after joining their youth set-up aged just seven.

He progressed through the ranks of the Berlin-based side, making his debut as a substitute against Eintracht Frankfurt during the 2005/6 Bundesliga season.

Boateng made 42 appearances and scored four goals, before attracting the interest of Tottenham.

He joined Spurs in the summer of 2007 but made just 24 appearances and spent the second half of last season on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

Boateng has represented Germany at youth level, representing them in the 2005 UEFA European Under-19s Championship, memorably scoring against Greece from inside the centre circle.

I think the through ball to Pav against Doncaster was the best thing he ever did in a Spurs shirt since joining 2 years ago. In no way is that depressing

Anybody who has the stink of Comolli is fair game under Harry.

Who do we have left from his reign of terror? Modric, Pavs (who I can still see being sold), Bentley, Gio, Bostock, Rose, Parret and Bale.

Missing anyone.

I think I will always like Harry for validating my belief that Comolli was rubbish.

yay, now there's no one I want out of this club anymore :) (except Alnwick *cough*)

He's still a young player and I think he could develop well enough to become PL level, though I don't think he'll ever be good enough to be a Spurs player so I'm happy to see him go.

I hope we have some fat sell on clause because with hte right coaching/mentoring he could be dangerous.

Amazing piece of business!

I'm actually pretty 50-50 on Comolli - he brought in some exceptional players to our club (+), some decent players who weren't right for the balance of the team (+/-), and some stinkers (-). KPB was absolutely, categorically a stinker, and even though he's still a young player the fact that we made a £1m loss on him represents a fantastic bit of selling business for us: given that we paid £4.5m more than he's worth, selling him for £3.5m more than he's worth is quite a coup. I have very little doubt at all that he will go on to have a supremely mediocre career and not end up making us regret flogging him in the years to come.

Thank you SO much, Paul Hart, for taking this no-hoper off our hands!

We would have got a loan fee from Dortmund from last season, so that plus the Pompey money means our loss on KPB is negligible. Well done Levy.

I Agree, I think this guy could be Class act, I thought he was just starting to look half decent, Played well against doncaster, and even in the warm up looked a different player to last season.

Video with Boateng on the official Pompey site is pretty funny, sounds like he's spent a bit too long hanging about the streets in Chigwell.

Corluka, Woodgate, Hutton, Assou-Ekotto, Gomes. All shit. Damn that Comolli for bringing Berbatov to Spurs too, absolute toss he was.
