Prince's ransom too much for Borussia

Kevin-Prince Boateng has revealed he expects to start next season at Tottenham after he failed to secure a permanent move to Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old midfielder returned to Germany on loan in January and, although he enjoyed some success, his spell was blighted by injury and a controversial red card.

Borussia general manager Michael Zorc revealed in March that he felt the player was overpriced and, as the club failed to secure a Europa League spot this season, Boateng has now confirmed that he is set to return to England.

“I have just heard from my advisor that there is no future for me at Dortmund,” he told Bild.

“I will probably have to start next season back at Spurs.”

Oh jeez.....obviously did well over there then!

Being that he's only 21 he'd be best served to come back to Spurs and let us put him out on loan at a championship side for the whole season....would do him a world of good.

he was injured for a fair while over there so they never really got to see him play that much so im sure that has a lot to do with it. the lad does seem to have talent and we're always hearing that man management is one of harrys best traits so lets see if he can work his magic with him

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :eek:mg:

Although saying that, who knows maybe with a bit of patience and persevearance he might turn out to be pretty decent?

Might be interesting to do as Jonny says and loan him out for another season and then make a decision on him next summer.

Who nows, maybe even playing alongside a player like Palacios would allow him to express himself a bit more like it has done with Jenas?

Probably a combination of him acting like a Billy Big Bollox over at Dortmund, and Levy asking for an obscene fee. Well, we let alot reserves go this summer, the squad could do with some new bodies...

I'm in the minority here, but I actually like the guy.

He only managed the equivalent of about five games for Dortmund, and I only caught glimpses of him on the Bundesliga highlights. DoublePivot watches more German football than just about anyone else on here, so he's most likely to be able to comment.

I cant see a place for him in centre midfield. But he is the type of player Harry can work with. Not too fussed if he stays or goes really.

I've always liked him too, he's never really had a chance though.

EDIT: Can we have a source please?

Nah, I like him too :)

From the (very) little I've seen of him in a Spurs shirt, he's hardly seemed bad enough to warrant to stick he gets on here :?

I actually seem to remember him doing pretty well in his favourite position (CM) away to Boro (1-1) a few years back.

And, away at Arsenal when we had a central midfield pairing of O'Hara and Boateng. He played very well that day.

I'm not a fan, so I hope we get shot of him somehow this summer unless Harry can work more magic than his namesake Potter.

For me, I've never seen anything in Boateng's game that suggests he might make it as a Premiership footballer with us. For some players who still have stuff to prove with Spurs (e.g. Bale etc), I've seen flashes in their games that suggest that they do have something or other that will develop into a good player in the future. For KPB, I haven't seen this, and I struggle to see the basic attributes in him that would be needed to make it with Spurs. Would like to be proved wrong, but that's how I've seen him to date.

Yeah and I was thinking maybe someone like Palacios would suit him more than Jenas did (not knocking Jenas there mind as I like him as a player).

Boateng is quite hard and was also supposed to be an attacking midfielder so who knows maybe he would be good to keep around as Jenas' understudy rather than his midfield partner?

It was 7 games, and most of them took place when Kuba was hurt. So even had he impressed and not been injured, he would have lost his spot.

Here's what I took from his time. He regained some confidence. He looked much less defeated when he first started playing and that translated to some solid performances. It also helped that as a young kid, he was getting directions in German from Kehl, who is right proper midfield general. But despite that, he still looked like a wild-child, with no control and little productivity.

His head is the real issue. The tackle wasn't even his biggest problem in his short time back. He went out on a bender in Berlin with Patrick Ebert when he was injured and the two of them did some petty damage to cars. It is was unprofessional on a level that even Glen Johnson couldn't understand. But at least it wasn't Bellamy/Barton level.

As for them signing him, it was never going to happen. We overspent and they aren't going to spend 6+ million euros when they can easily buy a player of his calibre for far less. And with Christoph Daum leaving Koln, there are a few players that teams will try to pick off: Pezonni would be far cheaper and far better than KPB.

I would like to see him given a chance to be honest, but it seems that the club don't really like him, and doesn't sound like he's that excited to be coming back does it?

I think he's had a bit of a rough deal, although it is quite possible that his downfall has been hastened by his 'Right Said Fred' attitude. To be honest in interviews I've seen he's come across as arrogant but in quite a humourous way - I think it's the type of arrogance that would easily be overlooked with a bit of success on the pitch.

In terms of attributes I think he actually does show some potential. He's a 6ft1+ powerhouse, with reasonable pace and pretty decent footwork. He's also not afraid to get stuck in. We haven't really seen enough of him to decide what isn't good about him, and we certainly haven't seen enough of him to warrant completely writing him off, anymore than we should be writing Gio off.

If it is his attitude that's the problem and we think he has genuine talent then this shit should be sorted in-house. Not just by Harry and the coaches but by the players. If he's giving it the Billy Big Bollocks set Woodgate, Hutton, King and Wilson on him!
