Well Tommy, in the case of Ghaly, I imagine Bruce is thanking the hoy fuck that the deal was still hingeing on a work permit being issued. He was able to unstitch it but the deal in principle was al tied up.tell that to steve bruce.

In the case of Dyer, the Nukes just wanted to renegotiate after first originally agreeing the deal and allowing Dyer to travel down for a medical, which he passed.
That is shyster tactics and has no place in any business environment.
They wanted to re-negotiate because Dyer decided that he should be given a £2m loyalty bonus because he didn't ask for a transfer officially, even though the reason he's leaving is because he wants to leave. He isn't willing to leave without his £2m and won't officially request a transfer (as doing so would negate his loyalty bonus), Newcastle are understandably unwilling to lose £2m in such circumstances and so have re-negotiated the fee with an extra £2m added on.Well Tommy, in the case of Ghaly, I imagine Bruce is thanking the hoy fuck that the deal was still hingeing on a work permit being issued. So either West Ham pay the extra £2m that is essentially being demanded of them by DYER and not Newcastle, or all sides play hardball and it probably ends up with a vaguely-unsatisfactory solution for all parties on August 31st.

This is pretty typical of someone like Dyer. You get a player like Bent who rejected big money to join Spurs and progress his career, then you get a mercenary like Dyer who seems purely interested in the money. he wants to leave the toon so he shouldn't be given any pay off. It wasn't like Bellamy at Liverpool coz he didnt really want to leave but was surplus to requirements. I hope we wern't ever interested in signing him, i imo that was just talk to get his price up.
apologies if this has been suggested already, but wouldnt a season-long loan be a good idea at this point? That way we could mitigate our risk toward his injury record, attitude etc....just a thought.
I don't think Newcastle would go for that to be honest.
Personally I think this deal is dead in the water if they want 8m. He's not worth that at all and I doubt that anyone at Spurs will think otherwise.
might be worth asking in about 24 days time...they wont want him hanging around the place until Jan...and he's still a devastating player on his day.
If we're interested I imagine that's exactly what we'll do, especially if he's as unsettled as the press claim.
Personally though I'd say his downsides outweigh his good sides, and I'd be relatively happy for us to steer clear.
