I know it's been done...

But what's the latest opinion on the sublime/fragile Ledders??

Seems to be two camps,,

Those who feel that he is so good (and makes such a differance) he should be kept at all costs & played whenever he is fit.

Conversely, many feel that inspite of his undoubted ability and class, his inability to play any run of games and playing maybe 1 in every 3 games making it impossible to form a settled CB pairing.

All of which leads to the BIG question...

Should we..

A. Cut our losses and allow hime to leave ?

B. Do everything to keep our best player regardless ?

C. Offer Ledley a pay as you play contract??

if he wants to leave i would feel very bad but i wouldn't stop him, even though he's still important to our squad (luckily i don't think he wants to leave us). he's done so much for us that he deserves some loyalty from the club, i'd like us to at least offer him a pay-as-you-play contract. our other central defenders are pretty good and ledders offers very good cover in case they get injured, even if he's not first choice anymore. i hope he'll see out his days here and retire before he permanently injures his knee, then gets his coaching badges and stays on with us as a defensive coach (hey if the likes of sherwood and les ferdinand get to come back and 'consult' for us, ledley can't possibly do any worse than them - at least he won't slag us off in the media and annoy us all the time!)

I don't think he would leave, he loves the club. Also, who would buy him knowing full well he will be injured for 50% of the season?

See how he gets on for the rest of this season, and over the summer. If it is decided he cant do it anymore, hand him a coaching role!

Living legend. Legend is an overused term and today it's an all too colloquial term, used casually and often.

But Ledley is a King amongst men.

when he's fit he's the best centre back in the country. he was the main reason we finished 5th those two seasons a massive presence.

Keep him and play him sparingly until he himself decides that he wants to quit football.

think c is the only way to go now
he is a legend , he is also a millionaire because of tottenham
would be nice if he had a low basic wage and got a big pay as you play bonus
business is business at the end of the day and he has had more than a lifetimes worth of injurys
saying that i do hope he stays at spurs and plays for as long as his legs let him

Give him a player/coach role with an additional pay as you play deal. That way he's sorted financially & we're sorted for a great defender & someone who can improve the abilities of our young defenders. He's worth keeping around.

He's a great defender, but saying he's the best in the world is bloody ridiculous.

hm, thierry henry rates him as the best he's played against. not saying king is the best in the world, but i've been surprised (and pleased obviously) at how highly he's regarded by rival fans, even the ones who hate us and would love to see us relegated. he would have been class for england at the very least, enough to get noticed and probably hyped the same way other international defenders are esp if he played for a glamorous CL team...

As Harry says, if we can get 20-25 games out of him a season, he is definately worth it.
And as i've mentioned, there must be some doctor somewhere who can sort him out??? If they can make a test tube sheep, surely they can sort out the knee

Also, i dont really buy the "settled CB pairing" thing as a reason to let Ledley go, Manure, chelsea and liverpool have changed thier CB pairing alot this season and its worked out fine for them. In an ideal world it would be great to have the same 2 CB's lining up each week, but its unrealistic and with Corluka, Dawson and Woodgate we have 4 centre backs who have proven they can all play well with each other.

Give him a Giggs type deal, and renew it every January

quality player and we are lucky we have a player like Dawson who is happy to sit in the bench now and then and then able to come in and play like he has been!! King Woodsage and Dawson all good players!

Big claim given the form Vidic is in at the minute. King is quality though, I'll give you that.

Remember the France game when he played centre mid? Shame everyone remembers James giving the game away in the last 2 minutes rather than King's performance.
