We need pace everywhere and don't have nearly enough of it. Obviously pace without end product isn't ideal, but we need to be able to stretch teams. At the moment opponents can push up on us, knowing we're not going to get in behind them too often and they can also sit in like West Brom, knowing we have difficulty breaking teams down.

You're right though, pace out wide and from the fullbacks is crucial for us since Poch doesn't want to play with any traditional wide men.
I think it is crucial to poch's system that we have a winger with pace and has somewhat of an end product on the bench that we can put in as a sub to open things up. Unfortunately, Lennon and Townsend cant play that part because one is convinced he's the 2nd coming of bale when he's not even close to the poor man's gareth bale and the other offers nothing going forward. I think thats what makes getting walker back even more crucial as we can push him up more than naughton or dier.

Not what you would call specific, but does give the impression that he is on his way back yo training with the squad;

Think his beard could do with a bit of a wee trim.

I don't believe so. Difference here is this is likely muscle (likely a hernia), while Dembele's is the set of ligaments that suffer more wear and tear than any other in the body for regular people, and he's a professional footballer (and a big one, so all the more weight on them).

I think it's "impossible to say" simply because it's entirely individual as to when the muscle will grow back, and furthermore to an extent such that he can play on it. If it's an "indirect inguinal hernia," it also depends on when his intestines fasten themselves back into his abdominal cavity, which no one can possibly predict.

Long story short, I don't think this one is as bad as it may seem with the information publicly available.

What makes you think he's had an inguinal hernia repair. The duration of his problems prior to having surgery wouldn't suggest a simple hernia was causing it surely? Also unless he's suffering post-op complications I'd expect some light training by now.

For all his failings, he has huge presence on the pitch, something which has become apparent in his absence.

His return can't come soon enough for me (to also allow Dier to move to CB).

I agree! I've been hugely impressed with dier! He has something about him. Yes he is still learning and will make mistakes but I can honestly see him becoming a top top player. Has a bit of pace, built like a heavyweight boxer, good in the air, composed and excellent technically. There aren't many better in his age group imo.

We really miss walker as well.

Can we have him back now, please? He'd make a world of difference to the current team.

It rather says it all that while watching the little Halloween video featuring Walker last week, I squealed louder than any of the kids when he took the mask off.

Could not come back any sooner.

He is sorely missed. We offer very little going forward on the right side. No overlaps etc meaning it will only ever come from rose on the left. We become predictable and easy to shut down. With Lamela/Chadli often going inside we need Walker going round the outside. Since this does not happen we end up with our three am on each others toes.

We are improved on the right with Naughton instead of Dier, but I can't wait until Walker is back

Great to have him back today

Amazing fitness levels considering how long he's been out

Makes such a difference for us and impacts the play so much more than Naughton who would have been skinned alive today by Montero, who is very quick and tricky but hardly got a look in 1 v 1

Yes he makes mistakes but the good far outways the bad

Welcome back mate, your pace and power has been sorely missed
