They have no right back, they have spent £40-50m on mediocre or unproven players, and they have the wealthiest owner in the league. Ye sure, £40m seems legit..or not. They can take that money and shove it up their arse. I hope Levy ignore Man City completely if they offer that kind of money. Normally, I would say £40m is way too much. But if you look at transfer fees that they pay and the rumoured transfer fee for Van Dijk, we should ask for £70-80m. I'm not joking.

KWP was superb again for England today .A much better technical footballer than walker already.Obviously lacks some strength and power but that will come .Honestly in 2 years pep will realise he bought the wrong Kyle walker haha

I know he can play both RB and LB. But it seems that he played as LB today?

van Dijk is one of the best central defenders in the league, top 5 for sure.
Walker is by far the best in his position and we're a rival which Southampton is not.
Shouldn't go for less than the dutchie.

9 years ago, during a very different football transfer landscape, Liverpool signed Glenn Johnson for £18m... Walker isn't going anywhere for £25m.

And they gave him a contract of £100,000 a week. Don't know what that says other than Liverpool overpay as much then as they do now.

apparently their wage bill this season was roughly 200mill (ours was 120m) looking at their team, i dunno where all of that is going.

It is ridiculous that some of us think 15 million isn't important and doesnt matter!! For starters this is Levy we are talking about and it is 15 million quid!!!! What world do we live in where that is chump change. To any business in this world that is a lot of money.

We should like I said before be not selling at all! Hold him to his contract but if he goes, he goes abroad. Strengthening out opponents is so infuriating, even if we have ample cover its a stupid move.

So seeing as you'd prefer he goes abroad would you take less money, say £15m, in order to achieve that or would you rather the extra cash and sell him to City?

Why do we always assume they have to go cheaper abroad? So we did it with Modric but who else? If we wrre to take a small cut off a 40m offer from city by selling abroad atleast there is some logic behind it, say he went for between 30-35 to say Bayern surely it would be a much better deal. I still dont look at losing 5-10 million as a good thing but the effect it could have on the squad and our league position if sold here is there for all to see.

In sure Arsenal didnt think it would effect them too much when they sold their first player to a rising City, look where that got them.

Either keep him or sell abroad for me. Its all about weighing up the options. Or if we think he is worth the money pay him what he is worth? If he is being sold we obviously dont think he is worth that salary.

Either way just dismissing 15m quid is crazy, as is dismissing 5-10 but atleast there is logic about it.

It's just a hypothetical question. I don't know if you were talking about me but I never suggested that £15m is chump change or that it wasn't important I merely said we don't need it and the development of our stadium is not dependent on us getting a good price on Walker or even selling Walker at all.

Like you, i would much rather he goes abroad or, ideally, nowhere. You seem to be happy taking a £5m-£10m loss in order to prevent strengthening a direct competitor, I would be willing to take a £15m-£20m hit. If city were to offer £50m I'd rather he goes to Bayern for £30m.

It's all moot anyway as Walker probably doesn't want to go abroad and it's not like we can make him. We could give him an ultimatum (its abroad or you stay) but I don't think levy will tbh.

No not anyone in particular but heari g it a bit that in general we are ok for money because we are a well run football club. But the reason we are well run is because we care about money and usually (MS asside!) We make good decisions.

I doubt he wants to go abroad either but I think its where we put our foot down a bit and tell him he signed a deal and should see it out. How many years does he have left? He actually seems like a decent lad, it worked with Luca for atleast a year.

I just dont want to see us make the same mistake they did down the road, it is just stupid to strengthen City, they are desperate for full backs and we are going to give them the best in the league!! Possibly for less than an unproven CB. We need to be ruthless.

Couldn't agree more.

He's got 4 years left on his contract, I think.

I also like to think, if we did put our foot down, that Kyle would be professional and get his head down and work for the team. Perhaps after a week or 2 of being a bit annoyed.

The only real positive of Walker going to City other than the cash is establishing a relationship with a club who only have good players - ie., we might get one of theirs in future. Not saying it would happen overnight, but in 5-10 years when we can match wages, we could be interested in someone like Jesus. (the City Jesus, not that Jesus...)

Great plan. Let's sell somebody to ManC NOW, so we maybe can sign somebody from them in 10 years time.

I agree and I'm sure Walker would be fine next season if he was told to stay.....which all leads to the theory that we are happy for him to go.

We didn't do it with Modric!
