Walker has improved greatly over the past couple of seasons, but £35mil + and I'd sell him. He's reached his potential, I don't think he can get better and he's always, ALWAYS going to have a brain fart in him.

And I really think he's replaceable.

I always think that if a player is not 100% happy then no matter what happens you will never get 100% effort from him. Poch is a manager who demands total dedication to the club and his ethos. He is a man of high principal and will make an example of anyone who questions the actions of him or his staff. This has been the case on a couple of occasions already. I have no doubt that the decision has been made to let Walker go but it will be on Poch's terms not Kyle's. A replacement will be scouted and signed...then he can go to Man City.

That's why we hold the cards. Walker is on a 5 year deal, he's English, they want a quick deal and they've set the precedent by coughing up 50m for Stones. We shouldn't expect a cent less than that. 60 may be pushing it but 50 is about the market rate these days....

I reckon if he goes it would be a 50m deal rising to 60 in add ons? Sound about fair??

1. You've watched one game
2. I thought he played pretty well

to be honest due to my work I don't get to watch much early in the day. thought he looked good 1st half, but 2nd half all their best attacks came from his side and he looked like he lacked that bit of muscle he will need in the premier league.

edit: wished i had the chance to watch him on the right though

Can't see Pochettino wanting to use KWP as a left back unless he has no choice. I've never understood doing it anyway, the whole point of them in any attacking team is to provide width.

It is about defensive ability, but more so it's about pace, stamina and a good delivery.

Don't think KWP did much wrong today .Had a few nice dribbles just outside their box .But defo wasn't one of his most impressive displays .

I edited original comment toale it clearer. I meant he was in his unfavoured left back position today which could be a reason he didn't stand out as much

Manchester City to begin talks with Tottenham over Kyle Walker move

Manchester City are set to begin talks with Tottenham over the potential signing of Kyle Walker, according to Sky sources.

Sky Sports News HQ understands that City's approach could come as early as this week, following England's international against France on Tuesday.

Manager Pep Guardiola is thought to be confident of landing the England right-back and hopes to strike a deal for as little over £40m as possible.

But Tottenham, who gave Walker a new five-year contract last September, are under no pressure to sell the 27-year-old and are understood to value Walker at closer to £50m.

City are certainly unaware of any increase in Spurs' valuation towards £60m, which was cited by several newspapers over the weekend.

Sky sources claim Walker is relaxed about his future, and is not agitating for a move away from a club at which he has spent the past eight years and harbours a deep affection for.

But he is understood to have been unhappy at not being selected for particular games towards the end of the season, as manager Mauricio Pochettino rotated him with Kieran Trippier.

Trippier, who is now rivalling Walker for the England right-back role, improved as the season has progressed and has proven himself a long-term first-choice in the position for Spurs.

City are therefore hoping to tempt Walker to the Etihad by offering to make him their primary right-back.

Guardiola has made signing new full-backs a priority if his this summer, and has registered interest in left-backs Benjamin Mendy of Monaco and Southampton's Ryan Bertrand.

Sky Sports News HQ understands that Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez is also a key target, with City already having signed goalkeeper Ederson and attacker Bernardo Silva, and are close to landing Mexican winger Hirving Lozano.

This has been around for such a long time already and only now Sky pick it up?
If indeed City have yet to make contact over this deal then taping up and other breaches could/should be looked into.
I feel this is playing even more into Levy's hands and we'll get the deal we want.
Kyle has been geat but this seems now close to completion.
Let's hope we spend this money well this year (not only on new players but a few pay rises where required)

With them saying that Walker isn't agitating for a move away and harbours deep affections for us it makes it seem far from completion to me, they still have to negotiate on price and then persuade Walker to move as well.

If he is only upset about not being picked for a few fixturesat the end of the season I think it will take a lot to sway him as poch seems pretty good at managing things like this in the squad
