if he stays this coming season, i'd not be shocked to see him want to stay for our 1st season in the new stadium. at the end of that he would be due a testimonial (I take it he qualifies even if he has played 2 seasons away on loan)

Dier is probably most important player in the XI....coz no other player gives the side the tactical flexibility than Dier.Without Dier, Poch cannot change 3-4-3 to a 4-2-3-1 or viceversa at a whim.

This is why regardless of position, he is always in XI...infact for the entire 3 years of Poch management

On top of that he is a good footballer with good technique and ability.

I think Poch thinks very highly of him

Dier is clearly weakest player in our xi .Yes it would take 2 players squad wise to replace him .But at end of day he is back up DM and 3rd choice CB .Dont think there was a point last season where everybody was fit ,so he was always covering someone .In a 3-4-3 there are much better CB out there .And he is clearly behind wanyama .Yes he is a useful squad player but the statement being weakest in xi was correct .

I still think it's not a foregone conclusion that he leaves. He may want a chat with Poch to see what the deal is going to be next season.

(Cue bid accepted news coming through now :ROFLMAO:)

I'd like him to want to stay, but if we could get 50mill+ and bring in Pereira for 20ish, then use the leftovers (plus the Sissoko money) on a quality attacking player like Lemar.

Well I start to think what is better for the strength of the overall squad?

There are very few 23 year old CB's out there that are better than Eric Dier with his kind of potential. He is an important member of the team and one of Poch's favourites. Will be an important player for as long as Pochettino is here imo.

Sky sports are reporting now that Kyle Walker will not push for a move. Ffs man i hate that programme. Throw some crap at a wall and some will stick

If he won't push for a move then I'd just keep him personally lol.

Less disruption on squad and we can concentrate on other areas to strengthen.

What would you have him do for you? Take the bins out? Feed the cats? Can you afford his wages?

Hello everyone

I'd love us to keep walker and the rest of the squad together, I like tripper and also feel Kyle walker peters is going in the right direction to get some game time under MP.

But Kyle walker is a monster at right back now and we've waited years for him to perform at the level we knew him and Danny rose could, so if it's money/squad rotation that's the problem I hope we can sort it out.

As well as his character/attitude being the epitome of what Pochettino wants from his players.
This is key. I'd had employees that weren't the most talented or absolute best at what they did but they were good and above all I could trust them. They got the way I wanted to do things and so were valued very highly. I get the feeling Dier is definitely this for Poch.
At the start of the season I thought he might be displaced from our first 11 but Poch always found a way to play him. Either DM or change to a back three to accommodate him. Poch believes in him big time.

Why has this thread (wrongly) turned into a debate about Dier being the 'weakest' player in our starting XI...?

City offer £40m and Levy wants £60m....if they really do see him as the solution to their problems then another £10m will make little difference to the proposal and middle ground will be found. I reckon between £45m - £50m should see the deal over the line....just Daniel playing hard ball again.
