50M ain't gonna get us a good RWB and with some to invest in a good attacker. Might end up with no one.....

IMO, it unnecessary to let him go this coming season.
£50m won't buy anyone in the proven class of Walker otherwise teams would be buying them. In fact aren't Chelsea buying a wing back for £60 million ...thinks it's them but not been closely following anything lately. What we have to rely on is getting a young player who might or might not make it, in time

This desperation to make out Walker wasn't important to us is embarrassing. The bold part particularly is bollocks.

There's a reason City are after Walker and not Trippier, but you lot can live in denial all you want. Bayern, Barca, City, United, Chelsea have all been linked with Walker and it's not because Toby and Jan are so good.

I don't even care if Walker goes anymore, he's a prick for the timing of his kicking up a stink and chasing the dollar bills, but the rewriting of history doesn't sit right with me.

I've defended Walker on many occasions when many deemed him not good enough and that was only the season before last. I am not saying Walker isn't good he is, but he's simply not £50M good. He's a great athelete, he creates good space and stretches teams with his speed but his crossing is frustrating and he is prone to the odd brain fart.

The one thing that has improved Walker so much last season was our formation the WB role utilises his talent much more than the RB. The last thing is we signed Walker for a pretty small fee, when he made mistakes or had a bad game it was forgiven due to his youth and the promise we seen in him. If/when he moves for £50M any mistakes he makes are going to be so easily brushed away and I very much doubt City fans will be as forgiving.

£50m good is not really the level it once was. Like I'd say most are starting line up would currently valued at around or above the £50m mark. Like £50m is like equivalent to about £15-£20m ten years ago..

Lets give a few transfer fees for context. Oscar £60m - John Stones £50m, David Luis £50m, Mustafi £35m, Sane £40m, Teixera £40m, Bernardo Silva £40m, Martial £36m and the list goes on. None of these players are really worth that amount, none of them are clearly better than Walker. Walker will go for something over £40m anything else would be disappointing.

Truth is, even with 40m its hard to really see who we would buy for it that would really be so good, I mean some of the prices quoted on papers for Josh King are £30m, this is the crazy market we live in.

True but most of them were a good few years younger bar Mustafi? That's just a guess I haven't looked. But yeah I agree the market is crazy, as a club we need to find good value .

I think Walker's fee will be around £50m, then Pereira in as a replacement, who's release fee is reported at around 20m, can't remember if it's £ or €. So, circa £30m left over, probably spend about half on a CB, then the rest put towards AM. Just a guess though.

Dont think its enough to even get anyone we want after paying for Pereira.

I remember Alex Fergie stop Heinze from going to Liverpool and eventually dump him to Madrid. That is the mentality of Champions.

I get the point you are making but the focus on the fee is a red herring. The market has gone crazy and there is only relative value not absolute

Until the money is reinvested and the replacement performs we won't know whether £50m was good or bad.

Also it comes down to the ambitions of the club. City want to win the league and are happy and can afford to pay A big fee for proven quality in a weak area . Vs their ambitions that might represent value

Ultimately all City really need is a solid defence to let their world class attack perform and Walker fits that build

So, Walker hasn't been in any of the new kit photos. I think he's always played a prominent part in past releases.

Got a feeling this is holding up incomings, so if he's going to leave I hope it's not going to drag on.

The itk that has been about this last week would pretty much point to it being the case.
