If they're spending £40m on some no name keeper completely untested in the premier league I'm upping my £60m for Walker to £75m

He's not no name. He's highly rated.

He broke into their team last march. 1 season in a shit league and he's a fucking goal keeper and they're laying out £40m yet if the papers are to be believed City only want to spend the same on a RB who's been the best in his position for the last 2 seasons in the most competitive league in the world and he's not even quite in his prime yet.

Yeah they signed him in July 2015 and he was on the bench until March 2016. Since then they've lost 2 league games with him in goal. He has over 70 appearances in the Portuguese league and 10 in the Champions League. I agree it's a mad fee etc but he isn't a no name keeper.

No name in its literal translation is wrong, you're right. But loosely interpreted I think no name is about right, I mean, he's hardly a household name I wouldn't mind betting that the majority on here have never heard of him.

Putting the fee into context (I know you're saying you agree the fee is crazy) but we spent £17m on a striker (most expensive position) on Janssen who had just had 1 season at the top flight in the Dutch league which is a pretty similar standard to the Portuguese league but they're spending double that on a GK.

Like I say, I just hope Levy keeps upping his fee and goes without saying that I hope we drag this out until the last day of the window.

Journo @ the Independent.
Big fan of Pochettino who helped The Front 3 do their little Pochettino documentary.

I think he was also a guest on the Tottenham Way Podcast about a month or two ago as well.

If we're going to be silly and sell to a direct rival we should at least fuck them around until last day of transfer window so he doesn't have a pre-season with them and it disrupts them...

Shocking after they spunked 17 million on Bravo last summer.

Just throwing mine at their problems as per usual rather than trying to develope their own talent - I thought Man City were supposed to have either one of the best training complexes or youth systems? (One of the two can't remember which).

I'm still completely lost as to why Walker or us would ever contemplate a move

From Walker's point of view Man City can give him 150,000 reasons a week to join them, compared to half at Spurs.

From Spurs' point of view it's good business to get £50+ million for a player who wants to move on. Better to take the money than disrupt squad harmony over one player.
