Insane scenes at the end of the valencia real madrid match. Real fight back from 2-0 down to 2-2. They face a mini onslaught from valencia in added time only to do a last minute attack of their own. From the final corner of the match, madrid have the ball at the edge of the valencia box for one last attack, and just as they are about to cross, the ref blows the whistle. Bellingham then nods in the ball from the cross thinking he scored. Ref then says the match was already over and real players are rightly pissed and bellingham sent off for moaning. I get the game was over but such bad form to blow the whistle then.
Why bad form to play to the clock?

On top of all of that, one of the worst knee injuries I've ever seen in a live match - Diakhaby's knee bending far too far the wrong way after Tchouameni landed on him.

Why are the Real players pissed? The game had already finished before Bellingham headed it into the net.

Thanks. I watched the end on a betting site so had no commentary and had no idea what was going on.

Why bad form not to play to the clock?
Yep i get that. But 7 mins were added. 3 minutes of those were wasted for the var check to overturn a valencia penalty so they should have played longer as the whistle went at 8minutes of extra time

also, there is obviously no rule for it, but it is almost the accepted norm, you let the final attack play out and then the whistle goes, although i get this doesnt always happen. If that was spurs, I would have been miffed.

Think they are miffed that it literally went when ball was kicked on for their final cross in a dangerous position. Not often you see that happen. Plus they will be aggrieved that a fair chunk of added time was wasted for a var check.

Saw the players reactions, didnt want to see the replay of it all.

Yeah, but it feels like favouring one team over the other to me if you add a bit of time to let them score.

Just as bad to blow early to save the a team because they're under pressure. The only fair thing is play to the clock regardless, is my opinion.

Yep i appreciate the point but like i said normally the final attack is allowed to play out 9/10. But also to repeat the point of playing to the clock still didnt happen due to the wasted time from var. but maybe i have my timings wrong. Who knows, just went crazy at the end and i loved the drama lol.

I don't think the added time was designed to let them score, it was because several minutes was wasted through a VAR check.

The ref is under no obligation to allow an attack to culminate. The game simply finishes when the whistle is blown.

*Sorry, this isn't a pop at you. I just don't understand why Bellingham or anyone else thinks the ref should let the game go on because there's a chance to score a goal.

I thought the usual way of ending a game was to allow the attack to finish and once the ball is back in play to blow up to finish the game. At least that is what seems to happen in the vast majority of games.

Do you really not understand it? It's how refs deal with it 99 times out of 100. Maybe even more?

So if the ref suddenly doesn't do it (especially in a situation like this, where there probably should have been quite a bit more added), of course it feels like deliberate sabotage.

Romano even posted quotes from Valencia players saying they understood Real Madrid's frustration.

Despite only drawing against Valencia last night, Real Madrid have still extended the gap to 2nd to 7 points because Girona lost and Barcelona drew.

Barcelona producing a masterclass away at Atletico tonight. 3-0 after 65 minutes. I didn't think this Barca side had this quality in them any more.

Fermin Lopez scored the third with a great header and is another La Masia kid who looks the bollocks. He's 20 now so not like Yamal young but this is his first first team season iirc.

Got the right side of the CL draw so you never know.

A couple more performances like this and they can well reach the final. They're proving now that they can beat Atletico and they can definitely beat Dortmund but PSG first up will be a test. I don't want to pick a favourite there, it's too close to call.

That's just... unfortunate... he was on the brink of returning to action and the commentators the other day were even saying how unfair it'd be for Lunin to be punted straight back to the bench because of how well he'd done.

It's El Clasico tonight, although the fixture has lost some of its cachet over the last few seasons.
