Lamela and Eriksen in the top 10 based on key performance indicators for attacking midfielders - Rigour, Recovery, Distribution, Take-ons, Chance Creation and Shooting

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...best-attacking-midfielders-Europe-based-stats

Six out of the top ten are PL players and shows how competitive the league can be.

Thought this needed more prominence instead of being buried on the players pages. It shows the kind of talent we have in this side. The big question is - why wasn't Alli included in this? Is he seen as being a box to box CM?

Anyone suggesting we should sell Eriksen or Lamela is simply out of their mind. Both are the main reason, other than Kane, that we win games.

Well, I think, anyone who suggests that, is clearly talking shit.

Don't think anyone has dared suggest such a thing, not since the end of last summer window when 80 to 90 percent of this board was delighted with the news of lamela going out and son coming in :-S

Vertonghen and Eriksen are two players that are being singled out by many fans as players to get rid. Both have poor games but have been instrumental to the team enjoying a good season. They also have the ability to fulfill the club's ambitions.

Well that's madness

They both have issues with mentality I believe but they have supreme quality

Both are so important to us - Eriksen though I feel really would benefit from another player in the squad pushing him hard for his place in the team as at times you feel he could do more - hopefully we will recruit a player to do that this summer (or Pritchard can get fit and step up).

Both great players.

I often think that we shouldn't play them both in the same team, and I do worry that they would both rather be in the middle, but clearly they are still making their mark.

I think we could see a really big year from Lamela next season.

Erikson is a potentially great player and we must hold onto him.
It's his diffident manner and little boy lost look
that makes many undervalue him.
At the heart of most things good.
he's no Dembele true
and visa versa.

Are these stats from the same company as the box-to-box ones?
If so I look forward to Dier in the DM section, Kane in the CF section...

Quite hard to take that report seriously when David Silva isn't even the best AM at his club so it's baffling how he can be the best in Europe. And De Bruyne doesn't even appear on the list! It just goes to show, using purely statistical data, like these guys have, is of limited value. Football isn't baseball and assessments of players, particularly creative/flair players, is best done with direct observation and only using stats as supporting evidence.

Anyone suggesting we sell Eriksen does clearly not understand the structure of our play in the opponents half and how vital he is. The other one? not so much ...

I agree with what you say. But then I think most would now be in agreement that this applies to Lamela as well. Lamela's pressing and chance creation (9 PL assists, same as Alli, and 6th highest in chances created) is nearly as vital as Eriksen's contributions.

Not just that but someone who could share the creative weight.
Sometimes it seems that everyone is waiting for Eriksen to provide the necessary magic.

There is no way they are 2 of the best 10 AM's in European football. Football analytics has a long way to go. Laughable article.

What a load of BS. What stats are they using that puts the likes of Lallana and Bonaventura above Maherez, De Bruyne, Insigne, Pjanic and Nolito.
