Makes me think of Usain Bolt's domination of springing. he and Blake are streaks ahead of the opposition but cycling"s dope testing is surely more rigorous than athletics

True, and Bolt freely admits that he doesn't train hard.

The hole barca squad must be Junkies too.

why doesn't he fight it?? Arguably the greatest cyclist ever and he just won't fight because he's had enough. Surely if he was innocent he'd have nothing to worry about. Even if everyone is out to get him it would be very hard to convict an innocent man, or at least prove conclusively he cheated. I don't see the benefit in giving up.

It costs serious money to keep fighting these cases. He has been in and out of court since 1999, damages are often not paid. What is the point in continuing to go to court all of the time? He will end up bankrupt.

I know my company often come to settlements in the states even though we know we are correct (and it is happening more now in the UK) we just want to avoid the lawyers racking up the costs, it's a scam.

So the thousand of blood and urine tests didn't prove a thing - and that was mostly in the drug-fuelled era in the early noughties when the tests were very vigorous. Today, the doping agency decided to strip him of his TDF titles?

I'm baffled.

Since he had cancer wouldn't it be likely he would take steroids then because I know people who have had to take steroids whilst on chemo

why wouldnt he want to clear his name?

no smoke without fire.

I can't help but think the same. Just face the allegations. I don't understand why he'd sit back and have all his achievements taken away. Hopefully the full story will come out so it's clear whether he did anything wrong. I hope he's proven innocent as I've always liked him.

First time I have used that non-sarcastically!

What a silly thing for anyone to say. The press get the horn for these stories, they produce the smoke and then people people there is a fire. The scientific evidence that we know of does not support the charges.

Do you remember that murder in Bristol not so long ago? The landlord was questioned and the sun ran a story claiming he committed the murder, he was completely innocent, ruined his life. Still, no smoke...

If 1,000 people call you a **** does that make you a ****, even if hundreds of tests taken over time proved you were not a ****?

Innocent until proven guilty works well in this country. If this was a legal case, would he be acquitted on the basis of reasonable doubt?

I suggest, given the information available, the answer would be yes.

Prove it beyond reasonable doubt and I'll batter him. Until then, I won't.

I think I will accept the evidence from several hundred drug tests over the words of known cheats.

even if hundreds of tests taken over time proved you were not a ****?

Marion Jones never failed a test and she was a drug cheat. Occasionally drug cheats slip through the net.

The USADA need to release all the evidence asap so cycling can continue to move on.

Personally I think he did take something to enhance his performances. I can't see the USADA and WADA taking such a strong stance if they had doubts over some of the witness testimonies. Besides, from what I've read from a number of cycling journalists the USADA have a lot of corroborating evidence from a variety of witnesses.

there is that, and yes they do but, when you consider the fact he is the most drug tested athlete on the entire planet to date and has not failed one drug test in all that time? witnesses can be bought and have failed tests dropped against them, the fact that still remains is that every single time he was tested (and this amount has racked up into well over a thousand tests) he has come up clean but still has to defend his name, the guy is pig sick of going through it time after time.
he nearly died after having three different types of cancer and was given a survival chance of 3%, fought his way back into cycling and became one of the best cyclist the world has seen yet he has to defend his name every time because he can't be as good as he should be therefore he's a cheat.
have read his autobiographies about the shit he's gone through to get where he is today and feel sad that they have kept on and on without a shred of any proof against him but yet have 'witnesses' that are known dopers that admitted to taking bungs/drugs etc to 'spill all' about him and now he can't be arsed to fork out more money to yet again go through months and months of slurs etc
they will finally get their man and result even without proof.

how many more times should he have to do this? when is the breaking point?

so the guy fought cancer multiple times and won, then wins the most prestigious event in his sport 7 times beating the best competitors on the planet and he doesnt want to clear his name?

But the onus shouldn't be on him. He has clearfed his name so many times, when will it end? The poor fucker will be bankrupt, but should be a hero.

Blake already has a failure. He along with several others in in Bolts training group failed a test and were banned. Jamaicas out of competition testing, or lack of, has drawn(not a great word today) some criticism.

Lance Armstrong has apparently been liquidated and has changed his name to 'The Lance Armstrong'. This way he can blame the old one and actually believe he can keep his titles
