Was watching last night and was noticing how good Modric has become, world class indeed up there with the best (not my point)

was looking at the LFC team and the buys the have made with the biters money, some very good comparisons to our players

Paulhino - Cann
Soldado - Mario
Fazio - Loverns
etc

point being did they spunk their money and will we finish above the pricks, whats your thoughts, slow day in office

The amount of times I heard at WHL/away games, and read on here, 'What does Modric do for us as he doesn't score or assist' from clueless idiots. Really does show up sections of our support. Carrick got the same treatment before that.

Truth is we are missing Modric far more than Bale imho. Bale's goals/assists you can replace in time but finding a midfielder of Modric's class will take us years. An absolute diamond he was and a joy to watch for the football purists!

I think until they sack up and overhaul their midfield, they will struggle. Thing is, at this point, will Rodgers have the trust to be able to do so?

They were always going to struggle this year though. They had no choice but to bring in mass reinforcements given the change from no Europe to Champions League with the size of their squad. Just far too much change and new faces to run smoothly. But IMO, without radical change in their midfield I think we have a very good chance of finishing above them.

Such a graceful player, makes it look so easy. He was the glue that kept our team together on the pitch as he is now at Madrid. The Madrid crowd love him now after a difficult start!!!

He is a big miss real class act he keeps that ball moving through midfield and finds that final ball, great player that we have never replaced.

I agree that the good footie stopped after he left, we had a season of Bale worldies to win us matches, but it was with Modric and VdV in the team that we actually played pretty stuff. Modric was and is world class, and to replace him and Rafa with Dembele and Dempsey was criminal from Daniel Levy.

Luka is pure class, I was absolutely gutted when he went, if only we could have kept hold of these guys another season I think we could have done something so special, a bit like west ham with the golden generation they lost but at another level! I really feel with a couple of astute signings we could have won the league.

Luka was amazing little player. A huge loss

I agree, but I think the real issue was not bringing in good enough players when we knew we had CL. We never pushed on when we had a decent hand IMO. Flogging Modric (and later Bale) was the inevitable outcome of this mistake.

Agreed

If it was at all possible, we should have gone all out to bolster that team with 2 to 3 more quality players; doubled down while the going was good.

Not exactly a risk-free strategy though :(

You're all missing an important part of the OP. He slagged off Fazio. Fazio can be nowhere near compared to Lovrens. Lovrens has had (I'm sure of it) every Prem game for Liverpool this season to show what he can do. Fazio has had one. Not to mention, Fazio is clearly not one of our keys. Lovren is one of Liverpool's. One has been starting, the other hasn't. Rating your post 'optimistic' was the other option I could've gone for, as you seem highly confident that we will finish above them. I wouldn't go making such statements just yet.

Funny how he gets called "wee" when he is one inch below the UK average. I guess anything below average could perhaps be considered short, but "wee" would seem quite a bit more below. Depends how you define "wee" I guess.
