Sounds like Martinez has an agent who knows what to say to keep the fans of his current club happy, just in case a widely speculated move to another club he’d like to join doesn’t materialise…

Alternatively he is actually happy to stay which is why they're having a meeting with Inter to sort out a new contract and talking in the past tense about interest from English clubs.

Think it was always going to be tough to sign him after Chelsea went big for Lukaku and the increasing links to Vlahovic seem to suggest we've begun to move on now too.

Because it puts the pressure and onus on Inter in the impending salary negotiations.

If Inter don't meet his demands then it's on them, and not the player. He wanted to stay. It's a way of using Inter's desire not to enrage the ultras as leverage to get him his worth.

Should Inter come up short, it also gives him away of leaving without being the bad guy. So he's protecting his reputation either way.
Yes agreed, so to me it sounds like they could be keeping their options open.

Could absolutely be that, but again, not the point I was making.

The offer of #Tottenham for #Lautaro, made 10 days ago, was 90 mln euros. Inter said no - #SkySport

They rejected £76m?

If true move on please, that's an insane amount of money for him.
Yeah I would put some big error brackets around this one simply because I'm having a hard time tracking the source on Sky Italy where the story came from. DiMarzio is basically Sky Italy himself and I don't see him carrying the story on his site/twitter which may mean it's old news he doesn't care about or his own sources beyond Sky Italy aren't in alignment. Figured I'd share here as this is an Inter news aggregator sharing it rather than the main ticker but I believe he's sharing it in good faith. If I find the original source (or someone with actual time to do so can track it down) I'll share it.

Who else at his level and age would be available for that amount of money? Serious question.

Whilst i agree with the notion of what you are saying/asking/getting at......they inly way martinez is worth that is if we get 180m for kane. If we get around 140m for kane (which is what im suspecting) then 80m on this guy is a huge risk to take.

Id bang down the door for vlahovic and pay 65m for him.

His next tweet was about how Inter are going to bid for Zapata in the next couple of days
He is not Sky Italy, he's an aggregator for Inter news so that post is from Repubblica. Like I said a few posts up and probably should have put it there. I rarely share aggregators because they are so hit or miss but it seems like he is sharing it in good faith so I am sharing it on. If someone could actually find the Sky Italy story that would be ideal.

I think I lean towards that I'd be fine with spending the entirety of a perspective Kane fee on Martinez & Vlahovic.

I don't believe that we bid 90 million euros. I don't believe Inter would have turned down 90 million euros. I also don't believe we'll be signing him. To me this feels like a PR move from Inter - oh look at us turning down a huge bid, we're totally not broke, honest.
