I think he has been sussed out by the opposition now and can't adapt, worth considering a decent offer

Yes he's been crap for a while.

But selling potentially one of the best players we've ever had is so fucking mindnumbingly moronic it beggars belief.

He's very young and still learning the game - writing him off for a few poor months is ridiculous.

Watched him a little more closely today as i haven't been impressed with him with the ball never mind without it. Firstly he was pretty shit today in general but the amount of times he was just stood ahead of the ball when Chelsea were in possession was ridiculous. Made very little attempt to get back in behind the ball for us.

I can't remember that last time he put in a decent display or any fucking effort over 90 minutes.

Lennon did nothing either mind you, possibly got himself goal side more often when we didn't have possession.

Both our wide men have let us down for large parts this season, barring a few exceptional performances from bale and the odd one from Lennon.

I agree, but...

Possibly too much pressure on the boy?

...this, and possibly still not fully recovered from injury. Also, I thought he looked pretty ecstatically beat at the end of the second Inter game, and I'm not sure he's even shown quite the energy levels since.
Rather than advocate selling him, Maybe we should just hope he gets a really good pre-season in, and returns to his previous form:shrug:

No , I think its his form . You could see him trying little tricks and none were coming off . Looks very ordinary atm . Some Johnny foreigner comes in with 40 mill watcha gonna say ?

In my understanding, these 'tricks' shoould be the icing on the cake, not form-determiners. He looks like he either doesn't have the energy or he doesn't ahve the will to make as many runs as previously, or take players on like he used to.

There is also the point that 'Arry made, about him being obsessed with little/non-existent injuries.

I posted about this in the match thread about our wingers and how they dont track back, particularly in the second half.

Im gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say its tactical and they are told to do it and wait for us to win the ball back and so we can counter the oppposition, if its not then why arent the players or coaches absolutely giving them hell and telling them to drop back in and help out? This tactic just makes us more open and pulls the centre mid all over the place and knackers them out.

At the end of the day we cant afford to have two wingers, a striker and often VdV stranded up field waiting for the others to win it back. Makes it too easy for the opposition.

For the record i don't want him sold and if he was, it would have to for massive money. But i do believe he should be on the bench, as he hasn't offered anything for a good few games.

He's been lazy defensively all season, unfortunetely. Just hope they sort it out in the summer. Can't people people want to sell him though. That would be ludicrous.

Why is this thread about bale and not lennon ?

Bale was good in the first half, second he was poor but not as bad as lennon.

we need to start playing 2 up front to get the best out of him

This thread is about tracking back and helping the defence.

meh im not gonna criticise him really, not because he is 'bale' pfa player of the year with all this massive hype around mostly due to inter milan games

no, i'll give him a break because he's 21 and has pretty much run his heart out all season. tut tut, thats why we have players like kranjcar, to come in so we dont burn our promising young players out

That isn't the solution, he (and Lennon) needs to work individually and with the coaches (I don't have any confidence in them) to improve his game, he's only 21.

What happened to the skills coach that BMJ brought in?

The one time he tried to make something happen it resulted in Ivanovic getting booked. He should have kept going.

Both teams certainly didn't play hard today.

i think his just exausted. Apart from a month or so out with a back problem he has been an ever present in this side for nearly 18 months

Fair enough,if he's tired,he's tired. Always had the impression he was an amazing athlete and could run non stop for 90 minutes. Maybe he is human...

Can you elaborate on this a little bit, please? I don't think I've ever heard that comment. Is it fairly recent or a while ago? Either way, it's not the kind of thing you want to hear, sadly.

But I agree with a lot of comments in that he's been poor for a while, and one of things I noticed in this game was how little effort he's put in.

If it is down to exhaustion, then surely the fitness staff know about it and Harry should be benching him for a while to raise his energy levels. He has played a lot of football this season, afterall.

Yeah. I don't know if you are aware that 'Arry said this about him when he first arrived, that he need to 'man-up' a tad as he was always rolling around at the slightest touch - even in training (and that he should leave his effing barnet alone:grin:). But he also said, recently, that bale thought he wasn't ready to return from the back injury, even though the mecial staff told him repeatedly that he was fine. Sorry, don't have a link - maybies someone else could provide one:shrug:

That's the guy.

Yes, he supposedly worked with Lennon for the best part of three seasons - didn't really teach him much did he as he still can't cross and still can't beat a man from a standing start
