Interesting reading these posts. The wildly differing views on where we will finish. just goes to show. This season is so hard to predict.

I just set it to predict it itself - which it does based on "recent form by the forecast calculator" and we come third. Think I'll stick on that...

To be fair, Saints being dropped was the consensus at the time. Everyone is shocked they are doing so well and seem to be waiting for them to come back down to earth. At this point in the season, however, I cant see that happening.

IMO, there are only 3 clubs vying for 3rd and 4th; United, Saints and Arsenal. We're not in the fight and neither is Liverpool. I can see both us and Liverpool being 7-10 points off the pace within 2 or 3 weeks.
I completely disagree, I think Liverpool are the most likely to finish 3rd actually. That team is totally different with Sturridge back in there.

I also think it is hard to say right now. If all of a sudden we go out of Europe and lose the cup, our projected points will increase because we'll have nothing else to focus on. If Liverpool advance and are still in Europe and the FA Cup, their projected points may decrease, etc etc. Next two weeks will make things clearer.

I don't understand how that thing works. I set it to autopredict for every team, and it has us 8th behind Spam on GD.:On the other hand, if you look at their form tables, which is what they claim they extrapolate from, we are 4th and Spam is 12th, so I fail to see which sort of extrapolation model could bring them ahead of us.

According to another of their tools, the "top table" tool, we have a 34% chance of finishing in the top 4 (not too far off, I'd say), and Pool has a 8%. We also are give a 91% chance of finishing in the top 7, whereas their other tool put us 8th the first time. Then I ran the first one again, and we finish 5th, behind pool making good on their 8% and finishing 4th.

I think their mathematical models might do with some fine tuning if they want to claim any real predicting power. ATM it's just a random number generator. (just ran it again, and the once mighty spammers, fresh off pipping us for 7th with 61 points, have fallen to 12th on 50)

I was sucked in and just wasted ten minutes of my time on this rubbish and am none the wiser. I wish there were better Spurs sites on the internet, although I suppose I could filter by user.

lol I didn't realize we are already behind Liverpool in the table.

One good result against Arsenal wasted in consecutive matches.

I used 225's excel predictor.

Chelsea 90
Man City 81
Arsenal 80
Spurs 72
Saints 70
Liverpool 69
United 66

Perhaps I'm being too positive for Spurs and too positive in general for the big teams, except United who I have drawing 7.
Chelsea W9 D3
City W7 D5
Arsenal W10 D2
Spurs W8 D4
Saints W7 D3 L2
Liverpool W7 D3 L2
United W4 D7 L1

Can't go through all that prediction stuff cos never get it right.

All I will say is -
would happily accept a top 4 finish as above expectations at start of season
but would then rather finish 7th than 5th or 6th as do not want Europa again next season.

Head says we will finish in the Europa spots again
