When does Daniel Levy ever start off on the same wavelength as another chairman in terms of price? o_O

I'd like to know how far apart the two clubs valuations were

It would be interested to know what Levy and co. thought was a fair price for a young Brazilian international number 9 with a fairly impressive goal scoring record.

It seems to me like the type of signing we should have just gambled on, at his age even if he was less than successful he'd probably retain a fair chunk of his value due to his age and profile (being a Brazil player)

I really think after the success of Sandro Mr Levy should have just moved to finalise this when we had the chance (if we had the chance) instead of going over the top with the haggling

But then who knows, perhaps the player himself had his sights set elsewhere and would have demanded too have a wage or something to come to us (you never know which other club has been in the ear of his agent) which would make our arrangement with his club pretty worthless

I hope this latest ITK is wrong but unfortunately I don't think it is.

Id say that at the value they have him at, no one will buy him. Lower the demands and we will be head of the queue

Think part of the problem is that the Brazilian economy is so strong at the moment, while our currency is being devalued. Everything from Brazil will seem very expensive.

He's not worth crying about, we missed the stage where he was an unknown quantity we could take a relatively cheap punt on

There's plenty of potential signings we could make I am sure, we don't have to pay big bucks for players that would still be a gamble

We cold have signed the likes of Ba, Cisse, Falcao, Canvani and Rossi all relatively cheap at one stage and I am sure there are many more players in that stage of their development we could take a chance on now who will develop in to top class players with us rather than paying the over priced valuations a player costs once are established on the world scene

Agreed, especially on the last point. Whilst i agree with the idea that we need some genuine quality to improve our squad, that standard of player doesn't come cheap.

One of the alternatives is spotting players with the potential to push on and become world class and getting in there early. We've obviously considered Damiao for some time and if as ryantegan states, their valuation is too high, surely there's a plan b/c/d?

I guess after the number of windows we've gone without moving for a prospect in this area of the team i'm getting a bit jaded.

Not sure how reliable but.....

Leandro Damiao poised for Tottenham move

Last updated on Wednesday, 23 May 2012

Rio De Janeiro:
Brazil international striker Leandro Damiao is reportedly on the verge of joining English premier league club Tottenham Hotspur.

The highly-rated 22-year-old hinted on Tuesday that he was ready for a new challenge, but added any move hinged on his Brazilian club Internacional.

"I can't say much, it depends on Internacional too," Damiao said.

"Of course my wish is to stay, but there comes a time when you need to go. I don't know whether it is that time. If an offer arrives, then we will decide."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp reportedly sent the club's top talent scout Ian Broomfield to watch Damiao in Internacional's Brazilian first division clash with Coritiba on Sunday night, reported Xinhua.

The London club is understood to be willing to pay $24 million for the forward.

Internacional coach Dorival Junior admitted the club was prepared for the prospect of losing the star striker.

"We have to get ready," Dorival said. "There is nothing concrete yet but it is natural that several players draw attention.

"We will try to anticipate any loss by signing another player to minimize any damage to the team."

Damiao has scored 18 goals from 25 first-team appearances for Internacional in 2012.

He has also reportedly attracted interest from Porto, Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus.

$24m quoted roughly £16m, so can believe that bit.
I think this is just linking some quotes from last week to twitter from last night, although am hopefully wrong!
