I agree....good for barnard, he has more than proved his worth to be 4th choice...

Though I obviously have no agenda on this, fourth choice would be fine - for now.

(First choice, here we come ).

Lee Barnard has joined League One side Crewe Alexandra on loan until January.

Reserve top scorer in 2004-05 and 2005-06, 'Barney' made his Premier League debut at the end of the 2005-06 campaign when he appeared against Manchester United, Bolton and West Ham.

An ankle injury ruled him out between August-March last season but he was straight back into the squad and made it onto the bench again on his return.

So he re-appraises his situation in January and lloks to see if the situation with the present incumbants both on the park and selecting the side are in place before making his next decision.

Does anybody else think Barney may be hanging on to see what happens to Defoe? If Jermain stays then he may as well go to Crewe on loan, but if Jermain goes then Barney is 4th striker and so he must figure on getting some playing time.

If he does go to Crewe I bet he'll want a get out clause in January in case Jermain goes then.

Personally I can't see Jermain Defoe being here in January if he doesn't sign a new contract and Barney must see it the same way.

Anyone agree?

He's gone on loan until January so this scenario still fits.

Good move for him and good timing as well I think, good move for all parties.

Reckon he'll do well there and he needs competitive games.

Still don't think we'll sell him, think BMJ rates him.
