Fair points. Injuries are catching up on us. Wanyama is the biggest loss. A midfield of wanyama Dembélé/ winks would give us a better base to control the midfield

Absolutely, it's not rocket science but we seem to be suffering in the area that has given us the foundation to build on. We seem to cope with Toby there but with him missing it is looking less composed. The sort of goals and their timing are a concern

What potential? He can't control the ball.
WTF are you talking about? Do you want me to bring up some goal and assist stats to show you how WC he is? Controlling and protecting the ball is overrated and beneath our Dele. It's all about goals and in-form cards (whatever the f*ck those are). Or so I'm lead to believe by the posters in the Dele thread.

Dembele can never play in such games when the lesser teams has higher energy and moves faster than us. Being the more technical side, we are not able to catch up on speed, and yet adding Dembele in midfield will only slow us down further.

Great shield of ball and dribbler yes, but he is also liability in adding more pressure to us when moment of mistakes happened to him or opponents glide past him like hot knife to butter.. I seriously think Winks should be the more permanent option now. Even Onomah will be better suited in games like this when mobility is needed.

That said, I really wish to sign Barkley this Jan. Gives us another option in CM.

We definitely need to go into the transfer market and buy one or more midfielders who are creative, technically proficient and comfortable on the ball. There are too many players who need too much time on the ball to produce, always play the safe pass or lose the ball too easily in the opponents half.

Dembele has past his prime. And coming on in games shoring up the midfield is a better option for him and the team. Less strain on his body too.

I think this is harsh, he pretty much has the midfield to himself - the fullbacks are higher, Sissoko has wandered and every now and then Eriksen comes back to help out. I think he does amazingly well in there by himself - it's just not possible.

Barkley is not a CM but I do think he will make Eriksen and Alli think a bit.

Poch had no real choice tonight though without Winks.

This is all down to the club being complacent in the summer though. We've known Dembele has been struggling for a while now and we have failed to address our problem there. Wanyama was injured at the start of the season before the window shut so there are no excuses. Poch also could have placed his trust in either Onomah or TOB and he hasn't yet.

I don't know if there was a reason we didn't bring in Andre Gomes on loan, but looking back he would have been a very important signing for us to alleviate the pressure until we can re-assess the situation next summer.

Personally I think we won't have much chance of getting who we want in January so we should get Onomah back in the team for 6 months and see if he can prove himself at CM. Bring in Barkley too if possible to bolster the competition further up the pitch.

Second game in a row that we've helped create something for the opposition to build on. Sloppy this season compared to the last two.

Onto Watford it is then.

Shitty midweek result.

Oh well.

Yep. Blaming refs and bad luck is a losers mentality.

Didn’t hear anyone complaining when Dortmund had a perfectly good goal disallowed or we scored an offside goal against Madrid.

We better sort our shit out or we’ll be finishing 6th and no trophies yet again.

This is it in a nutshell. I used to laugh at United supporters, most of my mates are, but they take no shit. They expect to win every game and that sort of attitude must run off on the players. We have a softer mentality of "oh well we should of won". If we wanna instill a winning mentality it seems it's going to have to start with the fans.

If we can't turn this around quickly then we are going to lose a lot more games like this over the coming weeks with top 4 out of sight. Then we have a problem with no trophies and no CL then I think we will be looking at a very different team next summer. With Ali, Eriksen, Aldo, Kane and Rose probably leaving to win trophies and a lot more money. Then we will be back middle table with a fantastic stadium and nothing to show for it and reflecting on how we missed ou on two seasons of opportunity.
I think the moment they realised the PL title had gone they stopped playing the way we did last season and I wonder if they can turn it around.

I'd like to know why Son is an automatic on the bench in a 3421 no matter the form of him or Alli/Eriksen. It must be disheartening for him as no matter what he does he is benched when Alli/Eriksen is fit and Poch uses that system. Once Lamela is fully up to speed I'd like to see him and Son given a run behind Kane.

To be fair even when we weren't that great we were still finishing 6th so we aren't going to suddenly become a mid table team, because if all those players left (which they won't) we'd have about £450m to spend on new players.

Watching our misplaced passes and dreadful final balls whilst 2-0 down on a stream that needed refreshing every 2 minutes is somewhat depressing.

I don't get the Eriksen form. How do you send your country to the world cup with a hat trick and then not kick on...?

I don't personally think he was in particularly sparkling form before those games. Not as bad as last two games but he'd had quite a few pretty meh games. Think it's just how he is and how he's been since we signed him. I love him but I've always thought he's our level and a bit like us, that little step down from the elite.

IMO bring back Onomah in January and see if he's good enough. Allows us to take a look at him and gives us another CM option. Reassess in the summer with a list of targets if we need to act. Goretzka would be top of mine but we're gonna need CL.

Actually, both Kane and Alli don't have as good close control as one would think. That may sound bizarre, but the ball doesn't stick as much as it does with the likes of Ronaldo and Messi.

Are we allowed to bring him back mid-season?

I disagree, it has to be with the players.
