I think the real question is Lennon vs Walcott.
A year ago if I had to pick between the two, it would be lennon 8 times out of 10.
More worrying is, lennon burst onto the scene as a 17 year old 3 years ago under MJ. In that three years Lennon has failed to materialise the potential that was tagged above his head, he has stayed at the same level or perhaps even worsened in that period. Walcott in one year has developed as a player and surpassed the improvement Lennon failed to achieve in 3 years.
Both burst onto the scene as fast wingers who had pace to burn - the difference being in three years Lennon remains the same player, whilst over the course of one, walcott has turned into someone who can change a game, make a telling pass & hit the byline and deliver a killer ball into the box.
Lennon vs Bentley..
Bentley is by far the more complete player and can have a bigger contribution on a game then Lennon could ever have.
We know lennon can run with the ball and get past defenders, but what else do we associate with him.....nothing.
Bentley is a potential match winner, we know he can deliver a great cross, we know he can shoot, we know he can pass and that he can take a set-piece. The proof is in the pudding, we saw him do it in pre-season and for blackburn, he has not lost all his ability by coming to spurs.
At the moment Bentley is going through a bad patch, and lennon - the one trick pony he is, looks more dangerous. Perhaps dropping Bentley for a game or two will fire him up, but in the long term - Bentley is the one, not Lennon.
Because wenger nurtures his talent whereas we throw them in at the deep end and tear them down when they don't improve in line with our standards.
