The reality is hitting the Abramovich jackpot has put them into the elite in Europe and if he wants to sell up there will be wealthy people interested in taking over. They won't be able to throw their weight around financially the way they were from 2003 to 2012 when FFP came in but one rich foreign owner will more than likely sell them to another rich foreign owner.

Like the milan owners? Or malaga?

Also you are talking probably about £1.5-2bn to buy chelsea. That is a lot of money. With the prem tv deal falling no cl, competing against the two manchester clubs they might not be that attractive to investors.

I mean it doesn't make the stadium any better once you're in there. For example, if you make the stands close to the pitch and steep, that improves the stadium "experience" because there's a better atmosphere etc., which I reckon most people value pretty highly. Whereas having a fancy architectural feature on the exterior like the arch thing at Wembley is all well and good, but it doesn't actually add anything once you're inside the stadium, so it's just an expensive and unnecessary feature.

Ah yes I agree. I thought you meant the food facility's etc.

Nah I couldn't give a fuck about all that. They can have all the craft beer and exotic food options they want, I won't be buying it purely because of the no doubt extortionate price they'll want for it. It's already a rip-off for a plastic bottle of crap lager and a shitty microwave pie so I dread to think how much they'll want for a hand-crafted local IPA and home-made artisnal thai curry or whatever the fuck they'll be selling at the new place.

From The Jerusalem Post.... News of the visa withdrawal came as Chelsea FC announced that it was freezing its new stadium project

Seems somewhat unnecessary, no?

Just because the bent Russian is seemingly pulling the card out of the cash-point machine, why can't they still go ahead with the stadium? They still have a chairman, don't they?

Surely if an incompetent, unambitious & tightfisted chairman like Daniel Levy can make such a project happen. Anyone can? :cautious:

SUIYHA put up this article the other day, if true (?) then Chelsea may have money borrowing problems :-

The owners of Manchester City, apart from being a bit of a one off, bought the club for a reasonable price with a new(ish) stadium, with adjacent land to create training and academy facilities and all with the support of a city council who could see benefits to the community.
Chelsea on the other hand have no new stadium don't even own their pitch and any new owner will have to pay a billion pounds to pay off the Russian's debt so if anyone does buy them they will have to spend that much before they put a single penny into the club plus if they want a new stadium that's another billion+.
Anyone looking at that, unless they have got a lot of dirty money to launder, would find it a poor business decision I reckon and I'm sure they could fine a better option or three.
Their sideline of buying good youngsters from all over the world loaning them out to have their wages subsidised and then selling them after a few years for a profit isn't quite as successful as it first was as other clubs are paying higher wages to young players now and the best young players have got wise to them to some extent so that income stream is dropping too.
All in all it's not looking too good is it.

This is just pure greed. For the last few seasons we have had to deal with a proposed decline of Arsenal, with Wenger Out campaigns, players running down contracts and general dismay and just as we see that come to pass you want me to believe that Chelsea are also on a downward spiral? I’m not falling for that.

My heart pumps purple piss.
interesting but the scenario at the end does not suggest the most plausible way roman gets out....he could sell key players on an annual basis and take out, say 100 million a year from the club for many years....they would drift down to mid table but probably settle there for a while....would be ok with that

L'Equipe is saying Chelsea will appoint Laurent Blanc as manager. Sarri is too difficult to sort out, even though Napoli appointed Ancelotti there is some dispute there.
