Your first sentence is very important I think. If you are a kid with so much talent that you are bound to become a top player and confident to boot then you might decide to stay at your existing club and develop but if you are just a good young player in a less wealthy league and have, like most young footballers, come from a poor or even ordinary working family then a Chelsea contract sets you and your family up for the rest of your life.
At eighteen a four year contract on 10k a week earns you £2 million by the time you are twenty two or £52,000 for forty years, it has to have a bearing on a kids decision, it would mine in their shoes.
I reckon your valuation is a pretty conservative one actually, 42 players on loan with an average of £10mil is over four million and £10 mil is a pretty reasonable price in this day and age. I wonder if anyone has realised the significance of that by the way? Chelsea have been using it as a meat market sideline for years now but the other side of the coin is that if Abramovitch does decide to get out selling those players is a pretty simple way of turning your assets into money with which to repay some of his loan to the club
I just had a look at transfermarkt quickly. Some of the players listed are Morata etc, most other clubs couldn’t afford to loan out players bought for that amount.

These players being sold might be the indicator if he is to sell the club

It’s a good point actually and may well be why they’re doing it.

Have any of you seen the rumours that Chelsea will try and get Poch if they sack Sarri? No chance of it happening obviously, but I love some of the comments by their fans saying that they'd never go for Poch as he hasn't won anything.... they clearly have no idea what Sarri's CV looks like.

He's 28 and is at his absolute peak. Chelsea will rinse Madrid and it will probably make sense to cash in.

I think the chavs will be better off without him, he seems to be the catalyst for when they (the players) decide they don't want to play for the manager anymore

Chelsea wont get that much, cos he'll be in his last year in the summer. Besides if they ask too much Madrid can just say no, and get him on a free a year later.

a £100 million pound player on a 5 year contract is one thing, if its his last year and refuses to sign a contract its worth £20 mill tops. Bargain if your the buying club.

Your right i'm not. :D The longer we stay in the title race, and hang on to the coat tails the more it may persuade eriksen to re-sign. Making the semi-final of the CL might be enough. Big asks really.

Neymar was like £50m-90m

I think Van Persie was like £27m iirc

Our mistake was failing to make the champions league the year hazard looked at signing with us. We'd have more than likely won something in the time since then. Such is the fine margins.

You're not helping us with Eriksen here

Just sent him a DM on Twitter. Told him to just ever so slightly point his toes towards the floor, strike the ball half way between its centre & where it makes contact with the pitch, which should hopefully allow him to finally get a corner beyond the first defender.

Worth a try. :shifty:

Don't think he would have signed, Chelsea paid his agent £6m

Hazard is a bit of a bellend isn’t he. These quotes of I’ve made my decision but I’m not going to say is a bit like when he was leaving Lille and he made it into a circus with which club he was going to join. I can’t help but think he’s part of the problem at Chelsea with his arrogance and massive ego.

Can't call that our mistake when we finished 4th, despite everything that happened at the tail end of that season.

Blame UEFA, and Bayern for fucking up a home turf final.

Almost as cringeworthy as Antoine Griezmann and his last contract renewal.
