seems like Gallagher is still playing for Poch...or a new contract...or a move?

I think that Chelsea team will come good eventually. The game today flattered them a bit because Aston Villa definitely weren’t at the races, but they clearly have a set of pretty talented young players. Poch will turn them into a good team but not a great team imo

It makes me laugh with the Chelsea fans that started supporting the club in 2003. All of them, including that plank Rory, bang on about how average we are, about how we have no history etc etc. In 2003, the Russian War Criminal bought them out & at that time, they had a whole 10 Major Trophies in their cabinet. We, at that time, had 16.

I would love just a single one of them to accept that they were lucky in that they were bought out by a billionaire. They moan about City & Newcastle, yet they are exactly the same. They were an average/good side before Roman come along with his billions.

I hope, more than anything, that they get the book properly thrown at them. They have been bankrolled by a criminal, flouted the rules numerous times and deserve whats coming to them in my opinion. Go on Chelsea, sell all your HG players, then suddenly realise you have no money to spend on replacing them because that just covered your fuck ups.

Fuckers could still win two trophies. Badiashile getting in shape is huge for them, he was possibly their best player last season. Getting couple of "Pochettino in" youtube vids showing up now.

Are they turning a corner? Was it just Villa being poor? They seem to have 1 good performance every 6-7 games.

I don't think they'll win a trophy but you never know. I'm hoping it's one of those performances that papers over the cracks and makes the fans, players and media believe they are better than they actually are.

I want to see all Chelsea bell ends suffer :)

Did Villa play a high line last night?

If so, and if Villa were not at it, you can see why Chelsea may have been better.

But everytime I have seen them against a more compact unit they really have no ideas. Until Poch really shakes that off they will continue to fall back on errors.

What I think made Poch's Spurs so great was Dembele connecting everything and being so great on the ball, meant you could dominate.

Two full-backs who were relentless and had superb recovery.

Two top CBs comfortbale higher up the pitch.

Don't see the need for an uproar over them maybe winning two trophies. Still a very long way to go in the FA Cup, and a final against Liverpool is far from a given, even if I think there's potential for it to not be as one-sided as some may think.

I don't think Chelsea looked anything special at all, personally. Maybe in comparison to how they usually perform, but it's a hard one to assess as Villa were awful. I don't mean to say that with rival tinted glasses on either, but you won't see many worse home performances than that all season from what's supposed to be a decent side. It's quite staggering how bad they were, actually.

As good as Chelsea were last night, I said in another thread, Villa have been awful since they beat Arsenal and City back to back. They're running out of steam, bit like us under Conte. I would not be surprised to see them slip away and even United overtake them in the league.

As for Chelsea, they have some great players but I still don't see them having a team that can compete for top 4. They still need a GK, CB, CM and ST as a minimum, assuming Gallagher and Colwill leave (likely 1 will at least)

As much as I love the prospect of a Chelsea FFP-meltdown, I fear their Saudi sponsors will organise another bailout.
Last year they flogged several surplus players like Koulibali, Mendy and Kanté for vastly inflated transfer fees. What's to stop them selling 10 random substandard youth players at 10m apiece to the Saudi pro league?

they we’re just riding their luck. The offside trap was always going to start to fail. It’s not like they have the pace in their back line to counter it.
It was a weakened villa first team though which makes a difference,

fair points maybe only relegate them 2 divisions

Dude, I am so ready to dust off the "Where Are You Now You're Shite... AGAIN!" chant for City if it turns out the PL have balls enough to relegate them :D
