You can't take the piss out of that as they've got that far to start with........however, the incredibly patronising commentary that keeps talking about Saints as if it's a giant killing and "will 1 goal be enough" is really very irritating. How about a bit of balanced commentary that says Liverpool were lucky to get away with a 1 goal deficit and will do well to recover based on todays form?

Saints are more than good enough to play for a draw. As you say, they deserved more respect.

Also just seen our respective fixtures at the weekend. If we win we'd go 2nd even if they draw at Old Trafford. Make it so.

It was horrific, I only turned it on for the last ten minutes but the commentary made it sound like they were playing a lower league team!

Question is now which Saints players are they going to buy to make their job easier in the second leg?

Cut Pool some slack, they were playing the 26th youngest line-up in their history and managed to hold Saints to only one goal at St. Mary's

But but but... How are we going above them? They wanted us to beat Chelsea... They were thankful we did because it was a two horse race no?

The simple answer is that nobody knows. Professor Stephen Hawkin has reportedly given up on physics after hearing of the mere possibility that this could happen, such Is the impossibility of a club as famous as Liverpool finishing below a team that has been consistently better than them for the vast majority of the last few years.

Yeah I think that's right, because they are also showing City v Everton at the weekend
Are the fixture lists supposed to be random? Because these fixtures, along with the Merseyside and NLD games always seem to occur on the sane weekends...

It's not completely random. Some fixtures are played on certain weekends sure to police concerns.

And of course, once "drawn" the TV companies get to influence change so freon a 3pm Saturday to a 4pm Sun slot.

Yeah that would all affect the timings and day of the weekend that the fixtures are played, but how often are the Mersey and NLD on the SAME weekend, or both Manchester clubs playing both Mersey sides, like how when there was a definite big 4 they always seemed to conveniently be playing eachother on the same weekend allowing Sky to hype the shit out of it. I thought that kind of thing was supposed to be randomly generated?

The only thing "random" in Football is the thought process at West Ham!

Most will be random but clubs can request to play games at set dates which tend to be agreed with police also. I am sureclubs can also request to play at home or away on set round of fixtures also.

Liverpool and Everton games are mirrored, so when Liverpool are at home Everton are away. Similarly with both Manchester teams and us and Arse.
IIRC there is also some kind of link between Liverpool and Manchester Utd games.
Because of all these predetermined links between the games it's highly likely that these fixtures fall on the same day/week
