Or both.

Oh and Idid anyone else notice that Salah's injury was on his left arm, not the arm that was entwined with Ramos?
It being both doesn't reflect well on the club, either, but it does help appease the fans, protect their player's value and gives Karius something to hold on to knowing it might not be completely his fault.

Anyway, as long as there isn't a petition calling for the game to be replayed... it's fine. There isn't a petition yet, is there?

So iRamos can't really be blamed for a premeditated act

The guy was elbowed in the head. I don't see why it's so unbelievable that he had concussion.
Probably because he bounced up from the hit, knew the situation immediately, and knew enough to complain to both the match official, and the goal-line official to show exactly what happened.

So - nothing to suggest that the elbow to the head affected Karius' brain function.

Do you know more about concussion than qualified doctors?

I said do you know more about concussion than qualified doctors.
The problem here is that there are degrees of concussions. Every time a player heads the ball - there is technically a concussion - as the act of heading the ball creates a brain "injury" from the physics involved with a ball striking the head (and vice versa).

So, I have no doubt that Karius suffered a concussion. But, the general population has almost no understanding of the word "concussion" - and so when it is thrown out in a situation like this, the likely intent is to mislead the general public. People hear "concussion" and the assumption is "serious" injury, affecting the ability to function properly.

I have no doubt, whatsoever, that, if the official had stopped the match, and allowed Liverpool's medical staff to come evaluate Karius he would have been allowed to continue. And, given that assertion, my belief is that this is simply a charade looking to absolve Karius of two boned-headed plays.

Yes, he suffered a concussion. No, it was not serious enough to affect his ability to play in the match. Not every concussion should result in a player coming off the pitch. Otherwise, we are going to be stopping the match after every header (and certainly every contested header).

Well this is the thing isn't it. Football fans will go to any length to disbelieve qualified professionals when the information they give doesn't fit with the fan rivalry.

No qualified professional can make that assertion - that Karius should not have continued in the match.

Mass. General: "It could be possible that such deficits would affect performance."

i.e. we, the qualified experts, cannot make that determination with any degree of certainty.

@tiger666 do you have to white knight every thread?

There's nothing wrong with offering counter arguments in threads. Surely that's more interesting than a circle-jerk with everyone agreeing on everything. It's a healthy debate, there's no insults or rudeness. If you don't like it, put me on ignore.

Looking at the replay, it looks like a grazing/glancing elbow to Karius on the left side of his face. He immediately gets up and has dialogue with the referee, looking to be completely fine in doing so. I'd be utterly astonished if that translated into a concussion. Yes there are freak instances of people hitting their head, appearing to be fine afterwards and dropping dead a day later, but mainly they would display at least some iota of being hurt directly after it happens, if even just for a few seconds, and the blow will most likely have occurred to the main cranium area of the head. Never mind that footballers usually overreact to impact and make it look ten times worse than it is often enough.

Situation definitely seems staged to me, but its not the worst ploy by Liverpool
