Do you know what Poch did in his 2nd season he turned our defence which was one of the worst in the Prem to the best, Klopp has totally neglected the defence and basically winged it with their attack, couldn't believe they weren't in for another defender in the summer.

Interesting considering how Klopp's BD team were very good defensively. He even brought through the likes of Subotic, Sven Bender and Mats Hummels, and possible a few others.

I think he might have gotten carried away a little bit at Liverpool, with attacking play lol

Poch has also used a summer window to go out and buy a new defence. He bought Trippier, wimmer and Alderweireld in the same window. Nothing was stopping Klopp doing the same and buying 3 good defenders after a year of decent scouting yet he decided not to.

I think they'll stick with Klopp for a bit longer, but a few heavy defeats and he'll be gone.

They were. But SCBC wouldn't cave in and sell them Van Dijk. Who, imo, is also not that good.

They could have moved onto other targets though, putting all your eggs in one basket was risky which in the end didn't pay off for them.

it may be that Klopp has said to the higher ups that he is will wait for the right players and not have stop gaps.
Suspect they will eventually get VVD and of course Keita next summer will make a massive difference.
If you add Keita to this team they'd be really strong....VVD plus K would make a big diff.

Liverpool's problem isn't just that the defenders aren't good enough, the goalkeepers aren't good enough and their defence gets too exposed as they haven't got a Kante/Wanyama to help them out. I'm surprised that they didn't buy a striker in the summer, but I guess that probably hinged on Sturridge moving.

Think his name was Steward or something. Someone we released and then they sign after they got Inglethorpe and he highly recommend him. I remembered he did come on as a sub a few times. They were saying he is gonna be the next big thing and we blew it by letting him go.

From what I see he isn't in their squad. Isn't out on loan. And isn't even in the reserves.

Any idea what happen to the lad?

Is VVD even any good? He never got attention as a top CB until Liverpool were in for him. And Coutinho is most likely off next Summer who's definitely a better player than Keita..

He was probably rated as the best defender outside the top four last season. He's definitely better than what they have there now.

Southampton have become a very defensive team. The team is set up not to concede, he will look a far better player sitting at the back of all that protection than he will gung ho Liverpool.

Toby even said defending was easier at Southampton cause he had both Wanyama and Schniederlin covering for the centre backs.

I think VVD is decent, he does get caught out, but a really good centre back.
