Agreed and Poch needs to sort it this summer, in his case I think it's poor judgement, in klopps I'm more inclined to consider it sentimentality but either way they should both be able to see the deficiencies of their squads, they spend enough time with them.

Have to hope Sissoko is shown the door, Dem could be off too, maybe we could swap them for a Tony Kroos...

I think Poch can be a bit sentimental too.

Let’s be honest, until the CL final it looked like Karius was starting to establish himself and he is still young.

I feel a bit for him. The first goal is just an aberration. The Bayern keeper did something even worse in the semi-final. And that Bale shot did move. I’ve seen that happen a few times now (think Eriksen’s goal at Chelsea was a bit of a “mover”).

But Mignolet is clearly not good enough. And that game may have ruined Karius’s fragile confidence. So I’m sure they’ll be after a replacement.

And to be fair to Klopp he’s recruited very well in general, bought the right type of player for his methods and addressed weaknesses and he does generally improve and get the best out of players.

I can’t always say the same - in terms of always getting players that suit the philosophy - for Poch.

Yet we finish points ahead of them on less of a spend? I'm biased though I cannot stand Klopp at all.

And played away from home all year. Simply put we are a better team than them, the only player I would take directly over one of ours would be Salah on this seasons form. However time will tell if he can keep up this sort of scoring form or it’s just another freak season for a random player.

I'm glad this thread has provided me serious moments of happiness these past few days. I still couldn't believe I can take so much delight from a team losing at such best fashion suited for them. :ROFLMAO:

Maybe, I don't think Lovren has improved any, in fact he's worse now than at Soton, I think he's another that isn't good enough. Robertson I wanted us to have a nibble at especially at that price as his potential was clear to see.

They're similar managers in that they get their players working hard without the ball but they both lack judgement to my mind in some respects. Who do you think Poch is sentimental towards out of interest?

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the opinion of one Mr. Stan Collymore.

"I am talking about wandering into White Hart Lane, plonking £150m on the table in front of Daniel Levy and saying: 'I'll give you that for Christian Eriksen, Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli.'

Edit: To be clear: This post has not in any way been photoshopped, I have not made up the quote, and all indications are that this is a real thing that actually exists in the real world.

Poch is a very good coach, and we have made some good acquisitions in the last few years, I just can't say I think we've bought very well in the last 2/3 years always, in terms of addressing what we need or what best matches Poch's ethos. I'm not saying everything we've done in the transfer market has been bad, just not everything we've done has been genius. Sissoko, Aurier, Moura - three of our most expensive signings - none of whom have added much to our first team. Sissoko and Aurier were completely and utterly unnecessary purchases and Moura is squad filler at best. Even some of our recent transfer "successes" (Alli, Son, Dier) don't exactly fit with Poch's desire to play pressing, high tempo football, as a result we're now playing a very similar type of football that was criticised under AVB, we're just doing it better and with better players.

Unless we have a stellar window this time round, I will be amazed if we finish above Liverpool next season. And I'm not a "all is shit" merchant, I just think our team building has stagnated somewhat and they have once again added at least one exceptionally good player who fits Klopp's style to a tee in Keita (that's before they sign anyone else).

Dembele, Dier, Alli, Kane and probably Lloris have all been over indulged at times IMO. It's not exactly sentiment, but Sissoko shouldn't be anywhere near this group, a coach who talks in his book incessantly about believing in youth integration shouldn't be letting a huge fee influence picking Sissoko over promoting much better potential from the academy. I don't think Onomah is ready to start lots of games at out level, but he wouldn't have looked any more uncomfortable or out of place in all those ad hoc minutes that Sissoko had, and we might have found him out by now and at worst be 10m richer rather that 30m poorer. And if not then some of the other young CM's/AM's.

I'm just tired of all this next season we will fall back without "major investment". This has been said season after season but yet we continue to perform. Having said that I think there will be a good bit of investment from Levy.

Anyone else woken up the last few mornings just feeling blessed to have had the privilege of watching such a spectacular Liverpool flop? It's made this bank holiday weekend even more enjoyable. Time for some ice cold beer, BBQ and more salty tears. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone! :woot::woot::woot:
