I actually think completely ignoring it is the best solution aslong as all refs do the same.

It's actually no different to ignoring a toddler having a temper tantrum for no reason other than attention, if you ignore it eventually they'll stop doing it.

The biggest indictment on Ten Haag has to be that he managed Antony, Onana, and Amrabat in previous clubs, so he should know what's getting. And they've all been shocking.

Plus dude has no personality. There was a podcast that said he has the charisma of a substitute science teacher, but I think that's unfair to substitute teachers.

Strangely I thought Onana was their MotM. Keep them in the game particularly in the first half.

It still baffles me how a player is allowed to fling his arms in the air and then flop hard onto the floor when an opposing player just sticks leg gently out and the ref does NOTHING!

Exaggeration like that tells you it is a dive. Clamp down on it
About 20 years ago, the NHL took steps to remove “obstruction” from the game.

In the 90s and early 2000s, the game had become slow and ponderous, with less skilled players clogging the ice and hooking, holding and generally obstructing the good players. There was very little space on the ice and several championship teams won by essentially just getting in the way. In 2004 the league added an obstruction penalty, which began getting called all the time after its introduction. But scoring went up.

Over the years since, the penalty is used less and less but scoring continues to increase. Teams are more skilled now that the league rewards skill rather than size. In the last two decades, the game has become faster and more entertaining.

All of that is to say: you’re right. We have the rules. Now enforce them an over time, the league will adapt.

That's definitely true, but one swallow does not a summer make.
Onana's league form has actually by and large been pretty decent and is a big reason why they've remained sixth and not lost more games. He made a couple of early clangers but has performed well since Xmas at least.

It was his CL performances in pretty much every group stage game that were an absolute disaster.

yeah I haven't paid that much attention to his performances. Definitely not been one of the league's best keepers though. If you sign a keeper for 50 million you're expecting to get one of the best 3 or 4 in the world

I agree, he hasn't looked like a 50m keeper at all, but he has looked a bit more like what he was at Inter recently.

Those CL fuck ups will live long in the memory though, he and he alone cost them second in that group.

Utd may not strike fear into opponents quite like they used to, but think they can still be regarded as a bogey team...

Really interesting interview with ole. As much as he was ridiculed as man utd manager, he seems to come across as a fantastic guy and gives some great insights into what happened at utd, without directly throwing anyone under the bus. Only big and worrying comment imo for utd fans was pressure that was put on ole to play cristiano when he was there.

also interesting tidbit where ole says all the contracts were ready for him to join us for 5.5million in 1998 and he almost did until sir alex went behind the boards back and convinced him to stay at utd.

The bit about almost joining us is very well known, in Norway at least. He's spoken several times about how that was the big watershed moment in his career as he was ready to make the move, albeit reluctantly, before Fergie chimed in.

I also found it speaks volumes about the messed up situation at Man U when Ole says sign Haaland, I've coached him for a year, he's going to be a world beater, and they completely ignore him. Easy to say in hindsight how big a mistake that was but I watched him in that Molde side several times and you just knew he was special. It was a slam dunk.

That and it was 20m, he wasn't not exactly asking for a superstar (at the time).

There are always questions about backing the manager, but how do they go from turning down Haaland at 20m, Caicedo at 3m and then jumping to 85m Anthony.

Such an absoloute car crash of a club.
