Too many fair weather players like Martial, Pogba and Rashford, Ole paying the price for not clearing the likes of these guys.

Disagree that Rashford is fairweather, he's streaky as hell but that's not the same thing, he still looks like he gives a shit. The same can't be said for Greenwood and Sancho has looked completely arsed off ever since he signed.

But yeah they do have too many prominent players who don't put in the hard yards.

Lopetegui would make sense tbh but Blanc seems a weird interim choice having not managed in a pressure environment since PSG 2016.

Blanc? What is their obsession with wanting ex-players in charge now?

I think lopetugui is a good manager but after his Madrid disaster im slightly surprised they’re looking at him.

I don’t now how they work like this but I think they don’t have any plan figured out at all. Their manager hunt is going to be a shitshow.

I wonder if they offered it to Moyes - would he want it? I bet he would! Won’t happen but would be funny if the Hammers got dragged into this.

Aren't they after Zidane?
He wants the France job and knows it's his when Deschamps leaves, whether that be after Qatar or in 2024.

He doesn't seem particularly interested in managing anywhere else, doesn't speak English at all according to French journalists, and his wife apparently doesn't want to move to England.

I'd be very surprised if they got him in.

I think Lopetegui's tenure at Real was doomed from the start because of the way it impacted Spain leaving on the eve of a World Cup. Call it bad juju if you want but there was a cloud over him right from the very beginning.

Still seems to be disagreement about whether they are going to sack him, but surely the only argument is over whether a) he goes right now and they continue with a caretaker, or b) whether he stays until a replacement is ready.

If it's b) then if I was Ole I'd just resign rather than be subject to the humiliation of waiting for the trigger to be pulled.

There surely can't be anyone arguing that he just needs more time.
If you were Ole you'd be kissing goodbye to millions by resigning. No manager resigns these days. Ole signed a contract extension until 2024 last summer which will cost around £10m to £15m to pay him off. Whoever decided to give him that extension when Conte was available, needs sacking more than Ole.

We'll probably get the line that he's left by mutual consent which basically means they've paid his contract up. Nice work if you can get it.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I'll save any of you that are curious the bother and confirm that yes, someone on redcafe did suggest Fergie coming out of retirement.
