A good read on how those wankers treated Moore:

https://www.theguardian.com/observer/osm/story/0,,1541919,00.html

Just vomitous that the club venerates him now, yet utterly treated him like shit when he was alive.

Moore left West Ham on bad terms and was never again fully welcome at the club. The dispute went back to 1966 when he had sought a move to Tottenham; he believed that, with Spurs, he would have a better chance of winning the title. West Ham refused to sell - as the club was entitled to do in the era before freedom of contract - and Moore's determination to go almost prevented him from playing in the World Cup.

When his contract expired on 30 June, he was not only unattached to a club, but unaffiliated to the FA and ineligible to play for the national team. Alf Ramsey had to summon Moore and the West Ham manager, Ron Greenwood, to the England squad's base at Hendon before the two sides agreed to resolve their differences.

The dispute simmered on and, when Greenwood vetoed another transfer to Spurs four years later - which Moore, then 29, saw as his last chance of a big move - the relationship between the two deteriorated further. Finally, Moore was told he could leave on a personally lucrative free transfer at the end of the 1973-74 season.

West Ham reneged even on that promise and sold him to Fulham for £25,000. Although he still held the affection of the fans, Moore never went back to Upton Park, except for work. A friend told me how, driving through east London, Moore gestured towards the ground and said 'that's West Ham over there' as if it were somewhere he'd visited once, rather than the scene of so many of his triumphs.

Same as why they insist on calling in the "London Stadium", and sticking London on their badge. They're just trying to create an identity for themselves. They've got fuck all else going for them. Bless.
But they won the World Cup. What more do you want?

I am sure the owners are courting controversy by using the Union flag on their kit.

I have said before on this site that the Union flag is 'not liked' and indeed known as the 'Butchers Apron by many nations around the world who were conquered, exploited, shackled and annexed - call it what you like and even hated by Welsh and Scottish nationalists, let alone Irish republicans.

They may have trouble recruiting players from other certain religious countries.

But hey it is all good publicity for the Stone Age Iron men.
In more recent years, English nationalists (certainly the ones who want England to leave the UK) have also grown to hate the Union flag.

Besides, football has never ben run on a pan-UK basis, so the Union flag shouldn't, strictly speaking, appear on any club's jersey. Having said that, I'm well aware how widely recognised the flag is, partly because of the Empire and partly because of all the tat that tourists see in gift shops all over London.

And all that schmoozing with Tesco - a very Jewish based company ! Comedy Gold with Sullivan and Brady in tow.
Does Tesco still have any Jewish connections? I just found out that Jack Cohen died in 1979, but couldn't find any mention of the business still being in the family's hands. Talking of his family, I also just found out that Shirley Porter, the infamous former leader of Westminster City Council, is his daughter.

Hi Worcester..

I have no info to corroborate my statement,
I am assuming that the Cohen family will have various trusts set up holding shares of a minimal non controlling percentage, similar to the Sainsburys dynasty who sold out to various buyers down the years but still hold enough to keep the wolves from the door.

And yes I did know Dame Shirley was Jacks daughter.

I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

Many West Ham fans hate Tottenham and call it a Jewish club, making the gas chambers hisses and other insulting chants.

In find it "ironic" - pardon the pun - that a PLC which was founded by a Jewish man Jack Cohen and his family who were all on the Tesco board for many years should be getting into bed with a club that has anti Semitic fans.

I respect your opinion of course but just don't understand where you think I am being inappropriate ?

Thanks for your considered reply TCO.

My post wasn't meant to be in any way aggressive.

I was just trying to say that Tesco is not necessarilly a "Jewish based company" these days. Doesn't matter if it is. I imagine most of its shares are now owned by institutions now anyway.

Peace xx

Anyone seen the tweets of @WestHamBaller on Twitter? He's doing a prediction of the Premier League table and has a top 4 of:

1: Man City
2: Man Utd
3: West Ham
4: Leicester

and Spurs in 9th.

You can imagine the replies!

Hang on Brad if your 85 year old grandad was sitting behind you would you stand and tell him to stop 'moaning' dg https://twitter.com/bradwr1/status/763457991131721728 …

I'm not telling you to sit down. I'm asking you to sit down on behalf of an old man who is to frighten to ask you.dg https://twitter.com/bradwr1/status/763457410803572736 …

We have a license for a 60k seater stadium the clue is in the wording. Sitting fans are not breaking the rules. dg https://twitter.com/billbradley/status/763474873364652032 …

I believe it's a myth that standing fans create atmosphere. Passionate fans create atmosphere sitting or standing.dg

I stood at UP for nearly 20 years when only the upper main stand had seats I don't recall 'atmosphere' like now. dg

but then..

I support SAFE standing but the law has to be changed for that to happen. I do not support antisocial standing. dg

Standing at UP evolved over many years, people who wanted to stand gravitated to certain areas it take time. dg

Celtic come under the jurisdiction of Scotland and the Scottish FA. dg

Hm. I think he's confusing the two things.

Celtic is the experiment he spoke about in 2013. He's right that there would need to be a change in the law. But it seems the OS has been built to be seater only, so he hasn't considered it (or didn't get the choice?), and didn't plan for it, and now seems quite negative about the whole thing.

Consistent about standing in seated areas but that isn't how it would be. One whole area would be for standing. Not many support antisocial standing, but that isn't the point.. and I think he's wrong about the atmosphere - as do many of their own fans responding to him.

They're so far away from the action that they can fit a marching band behind the advertisement hoardings, laughable.
