Its like the Olympic stadium all over again, where we were battered by miss piggy and the dildo brothers in the press.

Why doesnt Levy just say in a press conference, there is no Madrid bid, hes not for sale anyway. This speculation will ruin our pre season if it carries on.

i am sure he has said he isnt for sale, or that his price is £150m

If we dont sell him and Real have been running their mouth off about him wanting to join and he will sign for them who wins the PR battle?

Agree with the above comment, Levy can't be expected to come out everyday and dismiss yet another story.

I personally think it should be Gareth that makes a statement, if he wants to stay another season then just release that to the press, IMO it is his silence that is keeping this dragging on.

When does Levy ever say anything to the press? I would wager that Mr Lewis has some say in this sort of thing as well.

We don't feel the need go blabbing to the press, and Levy has done pretty well for himself so far by being like this. If he knows things on the inside are fine and that Bale is still committed then bollocks to PR, we'll win the day eventually and without getting involved in all this media crap.

Another epic thread from RichSpur.

Have you ever got anything positive to say about the club?

In business some like to keep their cards close to their chest and not lower themselves and play the media's games. Others are the complete opposite. The problem with playing the media game is that as quickly as they can build you up (Mourinho) they can knock you back down (Steve McLaren). Its a game not worth playing in the long run.

I don't think anyone has to say anything. Bale is angling for a new deal and this speculation should get him that and a fat pay rise. At the same time all this speculation would make Levy resigning Bale to a new deal all the bigger story.

I think to the contrary of somebody saying something...us Spurs fans need to shut up and stop buying into the Talksport and The Sun hype machine!

See your point, personally I think the club needs to nip this story in the bud before it overshadows the whole team.

Why should he even bother trying to play the PR game when the tabloids are going to keep printing Madrid's side of things anyway as that's what sells rather than a non story of Bale remaining.

Sorry mate but that's bollocks. I have seen numerous articles stating that we aren't selling or the story that we put a 150m price tag on him. The stories are there but "Madrid to offer 100m will always sell more"

And aside from the papers I've lost count of how many times AVB has stated in his press conferences that he isn't for sale, so why should we do any more. He categorically stated at the start of pre-season that Bale isn't for sale. It's up to the press people present to accept that and run the story or not, but he shouldn't have to repeat it a thousand fucking times.

Agree completely, If Real want to tell lies well play them right back at them, just like Utd have with Chelski feed the papers that they have been offered Mata as part of Rooney transfer.. Nice move that one. We should pick a player that's Madrid to the core like Ramos & say he's been offered to us as part of Bale deal. Real's fans mightn't give a fuck about Coentrao or Di Maria leaving but they would go absolutely Ape-Shit if they thought they would lose one of their own

Here's a bit of advice.

Do not read newspapers. Every piece of news you need to know can be found online by various sources.

Its not about me, its about relieving pressure from the press. Manipulating it to your own advantage. Real are bullying us at the moment.

Correction......Real are trying to bully us.

Levy's taking it all on the chin and saying, "Is that the best you've got"?

the media don't sell our fucking players, the club does. It's funny but this type of press always precedes the sale of players that fans will be very upset about. The signs are VERY ominous. Perhaps the club is a deliberate participant/ proponent of this media frenzy, to shift some of the blame.

If so, fuck you levy, fuck you spurs board. I can't be arsed with spurs anymore. Same shit, different season. We're a team whose players can be good, but they better not be too good or you will sell them because you're greedy little shits. Sign the papers and get back on your yatch in florida, Levy you ****.

Sensible people are not bothered with the crap written in the papers. Levy has nothing to respond to. Entertaining Marca's and the rest are for gullible losers.

There always tends to be a media frenzy surrounding a player leaving our club in the media unlike most other clubs it seems, but could be argued ie Arsenal

Its like Tottenham aint allowed to have world class players. My hope with many before Bale is for the best players to stay and help build our club up but if any player indicates a desire to leave theres no point in this drawn out dance as we all know the outcome.
