Next season it should like this:

Sandro Holtby

Lamela - Eriksen - New LW

Soldado

That is perfect to me

Swap Kaboul for a new CB, Chadli for a new LW and I think that's spot on.

Actually, Soldado in too! Not even close :shifty:

Haha yeah. I like the height of Ade and Chadli though, with Eriksen and Lamela running off them it's really hard to defend against. Everyone's expecting tika taka from us and then WHAM we've fucking Stoke'd you. Nothing is safe anymore! :D

Love Soldado as well still. Fuck sake it's happening again.....I'm getting optimistic :wtf:

Reminds of the old Crouch/VDV goals we used to score.

Nothing wrong with mixing it up! :) The thing is we've now got the players for a front 3 who can do everything; head, cross, passs, shoot, take on a defender...run. Shame Bale's not here to get involved :(

Not at all, it was always a great little get out of jail free card that move, I remember one game we did it twice in about 10 minutes. It actually played to those players strengths, bounce it off crouch and let the bloke with decent first touch and volleying ability whack it. Simple, effective and if VDV got it right it looked pretty stylish and not too much route 1.

I've posted this elsewhere before, but I think we should consider Holtby as our left-winger, if we fail to attract anyone of note. That was once his best known position.

He used to be right along Kroos in terms of development, and seemed to hit a wall when he failed to make an initial impression at Schalke. He has all the attributes to succeed on that side; he has a lethal cross, is good with both feet, has a strong worth ethic, and will track back.

It's true that he used to play there, and that was often his position for Mainz, but judging on his performances on the wings in the premiership I personally wouldn't put him there. He seems to have lost his pace somewhat and having developed his game in the middle over the last few years I think he'd have to adjust a lot to play on the left again. Would be like putting Schweinsteiger back on to the wing, they both started their careers out there but I think they're both more suited to playing in the middle.

Didn't he only ever get put on the right wing at Fulham? I remember him being decent against Basel when playing lw.

edit: you have watched him more than myself, which is why I'm asking (y)

What he mustn't do is to run himself out of gas by around the 70th minute. Must learn to pace himself properly in the hustle bustle of the EPL.

Yeah he didn't play on the left for them but for us he was deployed on the left a few times? I actually thought in the first leg against Basel he was poor for us :D (at LW) but in the second leg when he played CM he was really good.

I think he was deployed there a few other times too though

Not read this whole thread but I just want to say once again as I have many times on here that I absolutely love Lewis Holtby.

Is it looking likely he will stay at Spurs, be loaned out again or be sold on?

Given the absolute pony that has been a lot of our team this season I'd be very sad to see him go. Don't get me wrong, there are areas he needs to inprove, but when he plays you can see he genuinely loves being at Spurs - which is more than can be said for 75% of our squad judging by this season.

I have dreams (soaking ones) of Holtby and Tommy Carroll being our glorious central midfield pairing I choice in a few years time.

I'd put him above siggy all day.
Not sure I'd put him above any of Paulinho, Dembele, Eriksen, who are ask vying to be the attacking midfielder.
It's not that I don't like him. Of anyone in our squad he's the one that deserves to be the one with the talent.
I'm just not sure I've seen anything special from him. He doesn't look like he'll score many goals, his passing isn't visionary or unique, he makes tackles but I'm more concerned he'll get a red than any other player.

I've also read he's a bit of a joker behind the scenes and doesn't work well.

Joker yes, doesn't work well & yet captains German U21 team... :cautious: not sure if serious
