So we decided to give a player a 5 year £60k a week contract to someone because he was cheap and available?

YES DAN, YES. Keep up! What do you think the club does, scout players thoroughly based on their abilities and performances? No, we go around looking for the cheapest available players, and we sign them on hefty wages. It's really not that difficult.

So its Tim Sherwoods fault that he couldn't get into the Fulham team that was managed by Magath who won 2 German titles with Bayern Munich.
Brilliant logic.

No it's Tim's fault for sending him out on loan.

How did Magath and Fulham get on last season btw?

Yet talk to many Fulham fans, or read their forums as Fulham fans are hard to come by...., and they loved him

Its bad enough listening to Spurs fans who think he is the second coming of the Messiah.

No one thinks he's the messiah. They just take a look at our squad and realize that he's one of only 2 players in our squad capable of picking an intelligent pass. Or shall we continue plodding our way through the season with 5 yard Charlies

T

There is huge difference between Lewandowski and Holtby being Dortmund were loathed to lose him, but Schalke appeared not to be that bothered if Holtby went, they even allowed him to go 6 months early. Not sure whether you considered this as part of your Logic.

"He has turned down a new wage structure of around £50,000-a-week and is said to be keen to move to the Premier League with upwardly mobile Tottenham eager to strengthen their chances of finishing in the top four and return to the Champions League next season."

Considering Schalke's wage structure I think you'll find they actually made a considered effort to get him to stay.

Yes........then we loaned him to Fulham and he could barely get into their relegated team.
Brilliant planning all round.

Played in 13 of 14 games he was eligible for (one was against us), starting 11 of them. Yeah, barely got in...

Holtby was loaned so Bentilab could play.
Tims idea and it came back to bite him.
Lamela, Holtby, Eriksen thats an exciting line up.
Any striker will get a hat full with them behind.

sometimes i read this forum and wonder if people just talk out of their bungholes. holtby is a brilliant player. schalke wanted him to stay. holtby is a dynamic player with an excellent workrate and great vision who isnt afraid to get stuck in. he just needs to play in a tactically aware team. he's never really been given a chance.

Holtby played in 13 of Fulhams last 15 games, one of those two he missed was against us which he could not play in. You seem to be making things up?

I like Lewis, great passer and distributor and a committed worker to the cause, but I can’t see him working for us under Poch with Poch’s aggressive pressing game.
Holtby was never great at keeping possession for us, getting past a man, or blessed with a turn of pace...he can make a great pass though! He’s like the exact, and even more exact opposite of Dembele! ...wish we could morph them! Demby...or actually, Holbele sounds better.
I think Holtby’s impressive Fulham stats are also a reflection of their defensive set-up, where they just sit back and then wait for turnovers of opposition possession, which play into the hands of great passers like Holtby.

One of my mates is a Fulham st holder. He said he was "fucking world class". Said all is footy mates thought the same and really wanted them to sign him on a perm if they stayed up. Said he was a complete class above anyone else on the park. They obviously went down so take what you will from this post..

@markieboy it's ironic that you were the one to rate my comment doh, given it's actually you who holds the title for most ridiculous post
I thought you gave me that honour? Make your mind up.

You are clearly a big Holtby fan - I was just pointing out that his remarks were uncalled for when we played Fulham.
When Jamie O'Hara said similar when we played Portsmouth a few years back, he was given a very hard time.

Holtby wasn't a great success at fulham, for what that's worth.
But he has a good shot on him, and can pass.
For me we have to choose - him or Eriksen.
Sorry - Eriksen for me every time - Sherwood called that one right.

Eriksen is clearly first choice. But that does not mean Holtby wouldnt play. Holtby can play in a deeper role as well as higher up the pitch. Eriksen is a player who should play up the pitch.
