This was what I wrote before the match started, and I am not saying Lopez is a bad player, but I didn't mention him as the main threat today.

Umtiti scored a fantastic goal. Gomis could have had a penalty and Lacazette almost scored. Fofana is not the typical goalscoring type of a midfield player, but did well.

The only player I'd want from Lyon is Lacazette.

Lisandro's skills are deteriorating so quickly.

Also, Umtiti is such a quality player, but his flailing/falling/diving/crying just completely makes me sour on him.

And if Dejan Lovren wasn't such an idiot with challenges, he'd be a good player as well. Unfortunately, he is dumb, and as a CB he is a liability more often than not (although he was pretty decent against us).

I really hope this isn't true as we would be more than fine with adding a youngster to mold with this money and simply relying more so on potentially/hopefully a first-choice striker like Roberto Soldado and Defoe as our backup.

This post I think is what is wrong with UK football. A target doesn't have to be a fucking giant or a thug, they have to be able to make themselves space and be available to receive that ball & hold it up. Neither of those require an Andy fecking Carroll player.

Now if we well a long ball team then I'd say, yeah, we need 2 fucking lumbering thuggish brutes upfront to bounce balls off
