Even poor teams can up their game for a few games.. Good teams show consistency of performance over a season.. we are a good team

Over the season they've not been better but right now I'd say they're looking worryingly good for the future. Them under Klopp + Man.City under Pep next year, going to be very tough for us.
Liverpool under Rodgers this season (their first 8 games) - 1.5 PPG Ave.
Liverpool under Klopp this season - 1.5 PPG Ave.
Liverpool's last 8 games - 1.75 PPG Ave.

Tottenham this season - 1.9375 PPG Ave
Tottenham's last 8 games - 2.125 PPG Ave

Nothing too worrying IMO.

The big difference is Liverpool have many more striking options than we do... up front we basically have one Striker in Kane and Liverpool have Origi, Fermiho, Sturridge, Benteke so Klopp can pick the best striker to do a particular job... In my view we should be looking at adding two strikers to complement Kane

Using logic... Liverpool are better than us because they have so much history, I'm convinced next season will be their season

The point is are Liverpool better than us right now?

We've only lost one league game out of our last 10 whilst Liverpool have lost 3 so, results wise, no.

Realistically I would only take Coutinho and Sturridge from their starting eleven to start for us. So on the player front, again, it would be no. However, if those two were in our squad this season I believe we would have won the league as they are head and shoulders above the other Liverpool players.

Poch is chilled out and a great ambassador for the club, Klopp is starting to look a bit like an over animated bellend so, managerially wise, I would have to say no again.

In terms of football we are better than Liverpool in every department.

As far as next season is concerned they have to hold on to Coutinho and Sturridge who will want CL and I would imagine will attract bidders. They also need to add half a dozen players to their starting line-up and get them bedded in.

We 'only' need one top class wide attacking performer for our starting eleven and one top class rotational forward and we'll be as good as anyone next season so I'm not sure the gap will close next season either.

Liverpool just showed us exactly how to play against Dortmund.

They also played very well against us at Anfield at the weekend.

Klopp seems to be really getting them in a good shape and he hasn't even bought any players yet!

Is Klopp a better manager than Potch or does he just know how to play against his old team and are they a better team than us tactically under Klopp?

Discuss...

Oh ffs......

They're massively inconsistent, seem to put in a performance in the big games but then go through others looking hapless (especially defensively). When they do click they probably are very close to what we can do as a team. However as I say they don't have the consistency, nor do they seem to have our battling qualities and never say die attitude.

Some extremely childish responses to a simple question. During our match against them they "matched" us on the field. The game could have gone either way. Lloris as it turns out saved us.

Another poster has just mentioned their striker options vs our one. I feel that next season they will be challenging with us for the top 4. We always used the famous line of our coach inheriting his squad and give him time with his own players. Poch has now moulded his squad. Liverpool with a mix of what they have and Klopp making some additions will have them at our level next season.

Since when were individual games a good measure for where a team's at?

Also, re: your last point, that's all very well, but why is it that Liverpool will improve but we wont?

They are where we were at this point in MP's first season. Able to match the best sides in one off games, but unable to perform consistently even against weaker teams. Everyone knows Klopp is a good manager but his squad is a long way from what he'd like, and he faces a Summer of struggling to move over paid players on, and trying to pull his targets in without CL and possibly without European competition at all. Then he has to settle a squad full of changes, and hope they all adapt to the Prem. Same with Pep this season at least. I think we are in very good shape for next season having a very settled young and improving squad, and we are actually along with the Scum the only top side who are in this fortunate position.

No a measure of a team has to be taken over a season's work. I merely made mention of our game against them as our last game played and offered observations.

I have no doubt we too will make some tweaks. The difference though is they will spend more than we will on improving the squad.

They did last Summer. So did Yanited, Chelsea and City.
