I found it amazing today listening to TS that almost every Liverpool fan seems to have forgotten Wanyamas goal and are ranting as if we got 2 goals through 2 dodgy penalties. One twat even rang up Durham and said the first goal was offside, then on top of that Kane dived.
WE DIDNT SCORE THE FIRST PEN YOU DUMB SHITS.
And Carragher, Souness, Redknapp, Lawrenson all said the Lamela foul was a definite penalty so wtf are they actually on about?

to be fair he cheated alright but it was the ref's fault for giving the goal, cannot blame Maradona for that.

he did milk it though

OR he could have not cheated. Ref should have seen it yes, but HE handballed it not the ref.

I've heard all the arguments for and against the first penalty, and (sort of) understand the new offside rules, but one thing I don't get - if Kane wasn't standing in an offside position behind Lovren, then Lovren wouldn't have had to make the attempt to clear it, he could have just let it run through to the keeper. So surely Kane is active in that phase of play?

In that scenario (if Lovren didn't play the ball) Kane would only become active if he attempted to either control the ball or close down Lovren or Karius. If he made no attempt to do either he wouldn't be offside.

How the fuck Klopp and Virgil haven't been pulled up yet is an absolute digrace, imagine that was Jose, he'd be hauled up infront of the FA and hit with a massive fine and a touchline ban for starters.

Disgraceful. Virgil can’t resort to slander just because he is absolutely shite

I think that's pretty much the interpretation of the new law.

So maybe the problem is with the law.

It seems unfair that Lovren has to try to play the ball to stop it going through to Kane, and if he misses it, Kane is offside, but if he scuffs it then Ksne is onside.

Weird.

100% this. The referees interpreted the law correctly, but the law is stupid - it's impossible to view that incident and not come to the conclusion that Kane gained an advantage from being in an offside position, but according to the rules he was (first phase) offside but not interfering, and (second phase) interfering but not offside. The problem arises from the idea that Lovren's mishit constituted a new phase of play.

Yeah I agree, it was a lot easier before they fucked around with the offside rule, when if you were stood in an offside position you were offside. If you're not sure as a defender you have to play the ball & by doing so you make the opponent onside, it's farcical.
