One good point. What a ball from Kane that led to our goal. Has to be the pass of the season. Especially as he had to take the free kick quickly. He's a Striker, MF, Defender all in one. Just think what he would do in a great side.
Just think what he could do if he could run...

Kane of two years ago never stopped running, Kane of now never starts ;)

I don't know why - this one hurts bad. If we don't make Champions League it will be a bad case of shooting in the foot.

It does hurt and it's incredibly frustrating to continually have something within your grasp only to chuck it away. It's even more frustrating when Liverpool continue to come out of everything smelling of roses, but in our case the damage was done in games like Burnley, Southampton and Wolves. We should have bagged 9 points there and we'd be riding high if we did.

We have become a one half team. This was the case so many times. A lot of the time we managed to scrape back, or survive the first half by the skin of our teeth (Borussia 2 leg for example).
If we had turned up straight away yesterday, we would have smashed them.
Also if you dn't score 3 - THREE - sitters in 5 minutes of football, you can't complain about losing, even in the manner that we did. We only have ourselves to blame.

I'm STILL fuming! I've never been this pissed off about a result. It'll be just like us to beat city now and hand liverpool the fucking title as well. Grrrr

Same, I woke up at 4am just going over and over it in my head. I’m so fucking pissed off with it and all the wanker fans rubbing our noses in it.

Hardly every week
You can't finish in the top 4 the last few seasons and you can't be in the CL quarter final chokin every week
I get your pissed off, me too.
We definitely need investing, first and foremost we need a skipper, and I don't mean one to toss the coin or walk out the tunnel first, i mean a skipper.

We don't choke every week, just when it matters!

This.

That's why the mentality is always questioned.

If there's a "If Spurs win today then X happens (X being go top, or secure place, get record run etc) then it's almost guaranteed we fuck it up in the most obscure way.

Same anytime we were put in the title race by the media.

Best team lost

Bit like last season anfield really, pool run out of steam badly in the 2nd half .

Just those super fine margins again of Kane missed pen and Sissoko wild effort/ Hugo howler

The best team would've taken their chances!

It is not only that he is costing us points with some of his mistakes. His kicking game is not as good as it needs to be for a team that plays from the back the way we do.

Due to the times he has saved us, rather than discarding him at this point I would be considering a conversation like this.
'Hugo. I am going to make Jan the captain as I need you to entirely focus on your keeping'.

One thing that seems to have gone under the radar in that game - that Liverpool midfield of Henderson, Milner and GG was fucking bizarre. If they'd started at least Fabinho in there I think they would've been out of site.

We by-passed CM constantly because we didn't have anyone playing there, but they screwed themselves by filling theirs with lumbering morons who can't pass the ball.

And we still managed to find a way to lose!

If you ever have financial troubles in life from now on. Ever. It's your own fault. Because unless you're brand new to watching Spurs or didn't have access to online/in-play betting during the game, then if you didn't lump money on a Liverpool winner as soon as Sissoko's shot went over the bar then there's clearly no helping you. As close to the bookies giving away free money as I've ever seen.

Seriously though - I thought we were very good yesterday especially in the second half. I liked the switch to a flat 4-4-2 with Vertonghen behind Rose on the left and then with Kane and Lucas as two strikers. Classic, old school, but it worked. Liverpool's wide threat was minimalised because of the extra man wide - Eriksen helped to drift inside when we needed more in the middle, and they found it hard to track Alli and Sissoko's runs forward whilst also having the two front men to occupy.

Just a shame that once again we're let down by individual mistakes...

I think it just seems like that because we dont recognise when we do achieve things.
It was this season we somehow managed to get our shit together and get out of a bloody hard group in the CL.
We beat Dortmund Home and Away.
Was that 'Spursy'?
We have had a lot of shit to deal with this season. The stadium would have fked most teams. We've had unprecedented injuries, compounded by a piss poor transfer window (which is nobodys fault but our own).
All these things were gonna take their toll towards the end of the season and that has proved to be the case.
5 home games out of last 7 fixtures and an away game at Bournemouth.
IF and its a big IF, we win those 6, which we should of we stop throwing the fkin ball in the back of our own net, then we finish top 4 which would be an amazing achievement all things considered.

This bottling/choking thing perpetuated by our fans is beyond embarrassing now, can you actually hear yourselves - what are you even on about?

If constantly we choked 'when it mattered' or bottled 'when it counts' we wouldn't be anywhere near the top four or in the CL, we'd be hovering around our rightful place of 6th and playing Europa League football for the past few years.

What constitutes when it matter or when it counts anyway? Is Burnley away worth more choking points than Wolves away for example, does losing against Liverpool count more on a higher choking scale than beating Dortmund, like wtf? lol

Still haven't seen anything of the game but picking through various posts and reports it seems that we lined up wrong in the first half but changed it and took the game to them in the second half and we did that so well we were the better side and should have won the game. Very positive signs IF we had approached it correctly from the start and IF we had put away the clear chances we had and IF our goalkeeper had been more assured we'd have come away with something so we have some things to learn and change and perhaps deficiencies to work on or replace. A win on Wednesday will go a long way to calming nerves and restoring confidence.

It's crazy isn't it? We changed our system after what felt like an age against Dortmund, squeezed the life out of the game, and punished them on the counter. Why Poch took so long to do the same against Liverpool is beyond me when they both play such a similar style of high-tempo attack from the wings football. But when he finally did it, the same thing happened... but this time we created three glorious chances to seal the win but fluffed them all. And then Lloris did his thing.

Choking doesn't come into it. We're just not good enough.

Sissoko has excelled this season but a better player would've buried that chance.

I'm sorry but I don't agree. He's always back helping defence and then running forward on the break. Okay he's not the fastest striker out there but don't accuse him of not running. The non runners are Deli and Eriksen but not Kane.

Sadly he decided that that was the moment to end his hoo doo. He should have passed to Son, who would have buried it.

Go back and watch some early Kane, his work from the front was unparalleled, his performances over the last two years are not at the same level of intensity or pace. (not even close)

I appreciate that as a player matures they learn that perhaps that all action style will harm them when a chance comes and they're too fucked to take it, but it was this approach to my mind that made him what he is, and he looked a much sharper player because of it, nowadays it seems his top speed is a jog and he barely runs the channels, leaving Son or Moura to do that. And is second to most things now even against slow defenders.

I feel the last two injuries and rushing back from both coupled with non stop international tournaments has hampered him badly, i just hope it's not permanent.

That Sissoko chance reminds me of the time when Jenas missed his chance when we lost 3-0 in 2006 if I recall that miss would have given us a 1-0 lead then they went onto score a min later.
