My only change would be to tell Dembele to drop a bit in the opening 20 minutes or so to make it more of a 4-3-3. We just need to make sure we control that midfield area as much as possible and stop them playing their game as much as possible.

Once we've done that, then we can push on and start to take the game to them.

Agree though, a draw would be an excellent result.

I think we'll be a bit deeper naturally anyway with the onus on Liverpool being at home, just hope we can make a solid start an grow into the game. Must prevent them from making a fast start, that's key IMO.

They still look quality fragile to me. If Wimbledon, Leicester, Bolton and Sunderland can test them we should be able to give them a game.

As others have said the first 20 mins of this game are vital, and we need to cut out the mistakes that have plagued us in this fixture in recent years.

Assuming we can do that I think we have a good chance at getting a result. This Rodgers team doesn't seem to cope as well with fixture congestion as us and I'd be pretty confident in saying we are the fitter team. It could be a significant advantage.

However at the same time our record vs them recently can't be ignored, and if they score first (and early) or we make mistakes we can be punished by their forward players.

Very interesting game IMO, real acid test of where we are at currently. If I was betting I'd probably go for a score draw, which would be a pretty darn good result all things considered...

Whilst I agree with you, I think too much is being made of their recent record against us. Yes they've won the last 4 but we won 6 and drew 1 of the 7 before that. We don't make anywhere near the same amount of defensive mistakes as we did last season or at the start of this one.

Also, our attack are on fire; Kane, Eriksen, Chadli & Lamela have 46 goals this season. Coutinho, Sterling, Sturridge, Balotelli, Borini, Lambert, Markovic, Gerrard, Lallana, Henderson, Allen & Moreno can only boast 40 between the lot.

If we come with the same intensity as we did on Saturday we should win this, relatively comfortably too.

As long as the back four remember not to get caught out by their pace a la Welbeck on Saturday. This has been their main weapon against us and honestly the only weapon at their disposal.

Just have a feeling its Eriksen's turn to hog the limelight. Another free kick maybe!

First thing they would have scored alot more than the 40 goals had Sturridge been fit all season. He makes a massive difference to their attack.

Also you comments about winning comfortable? Really...i think you are underestimating the improvement Liverpool have shown in the last few weeks. If we get a point i would value that as good as the 3 against Arsenal.

Looks like Lucas is out for a month. Big loss for them, good stuff.
Does that mean Gerrard playing his third game in 6 days?....hope so.
Edit...rumour is that Sterling is having an MRI scan.

Yeah, and if we had two other strikers who scored goals we'd have scored a lot more too. Ifs and buts. I could have also included virtually the entire squad in the comparison, as I did with them.

Also, Liverpool haven't made an improvement in the last few weeks. They've taken 11 points since the turn of the year which is the same amount they made in December. They've done ok but nothing exceptional, only beating teams they should do on paper. This is not the Liverpool of last year by a fecking long way and we aren't the team they faced last year, or in August, by a pretty large distance too.

I don't think we're going to go there and win 5-0 but I think if we play like we did against Arsenal/Chelsea and they play like they have been, we'll win.

Yes they have been that poor without their best player who is now back and they are how many points behind us? I am not saying we can't win tomorrow; i just think you are seriously underestimating the difference Sturridge is going to make in the final part of the season.

I think the point is (if I remember correctly, I may be a tad wrong...) that they still have a similar team minus Suarez to what they had when they beat us those previous times. Our record before that means nothing going into this game as it was a completely different team, the Modric, VDV, Bale, Adebayor etc. era.

Most importantly though is that we are a different team to what they have faced when lining up against us in recent previous matches. We're potentially in the best shape we've been in since the Redknapp days IMO.

Well, as I haven't mentioned the final part of the season or discussed Sturridge at all, I'm struggling to see where I've underestimated his impact on it.

I'm talking about tomorrow. All I've said is, they dominated us for the last few games but the period before was all us, our attack is better than theirs (with stats to prove it), our defence are a million miles better off from what they were last year, we no longer seem to get a man sent off in every game against one of our top 4 rivals and Liverpool are in the exact same form as they were before Xmas, when everyone said they were crap.

I may still be riding the wave of euphoria but I refuse to shit myself about playing the bin dippers. A lot has changed and we have every reason to be confident where as they really don't.

Really want us to beat these bastards.

Sterling missing out would be excellent news.

I really hope your right, but we had a great win against Chelsea and everyone got carried away and then we lost to Palace.

So it's just me being my usual pessimistic self which believes a point will be an excellent result.
